Georgetown students may pay reparations for slavery with new student fee

Georgetown University students will soon vote on whether they want to tax themselves to benefit the descendants of slaves sold by the university in the 1830s.
Its student government recently authorized a campuswide student referendum on whether to establish a fund for the families of the 272 men, women and children sold by Georgetown in 1838.
If approved, the semesterly fee would begin to be collected in the fall of 2020 and start at $27.20 per student “in honor of the 272 people sold by Georgetown,” states the student government resolution approving the referendum, a copy of which was obtained Wednesday by The College Fix.
“The proceeds of the GU272 Reconciliation Contributions will be allocated for charitable purposes directly benefiting the descendants of the GU272 and other persons once enslaved by the Maryland Jesuits — with special consideration given to causes and proposals directly benefiting those descendants still residing in proud and underprivileged communities,” the resolution stated.
The student government resolution approving the campuswide referendum was passed Feb. 3 by a vote of 20 in favor and 4 against, and with that the student body vote will occur in April alongside the annual student government elections, according to the resolution.

There are a lot of Black people in America today who are the descendants of Free Black slave-owners.
It’s all so mixed-up and turned-around that we should probably drop it, and move on.
At least, doing so would be very useful.
Unless the Jesuits captured people who had been free and placed them in a state of involuntary servitude, they did not enslave anyone. They may have participated in a system where others had been enslaved, and may not have done what the lemming snowflakes think ought to have been done, and the lemming snowflakes are not all wrong, but mostly they are virtue signalers.
At least the incident has cause me to revisit Chesterton’s Poem “The Appeal of the Peers”
in which he compares the Norman Nobility of 1066 to the members of the House of Lords of his day:
“They were thieves and thugs and smiters, they were better men than you!”
Once collected, then debit that account to the descendants of Georgetown grads who died in the Union army to free the slaves.
GREAT IDEA!!! Like carbon credits for polluters, I’ll buy and free a couple of $90 slaves, and I’m clear.
Now, where do I submit my tab for welfare/education/employment/crime reparations?
And/or whose ancestors weren’t even IN this country, when there were slaves, having to pay this money?
What about those who are of mixed race; do the take money from one pocket and stuff it into another one in their jeans?
We have indentured servitude today in this country. It’s called “child” support payments by fathers to the matriarchy.
Try not paying it and you’re thrown in jail. No accountability for what it’s spent on. Your kids can still be in poverty wearing rags while mommykins gets her hair and nails done every month on the “child” support money.

They were made slaves in Africa not America. They were freed in America by Republicans over Democrat objections and then had a war to make it happen. Blood was spilled to free them. Enough payment. Then they sell themselves out to the Democrats. Some people you can’t help.

There were thousands of blacks who were slave owners.

Slavery was a common institution throughout every race and every part of the world for thousands of years, before white Christians in England and the U.S. decided to put a stop to it.
So very likely that most of us have slave blood. My ancestors were poor Slavs - bet I have as much slave ancestry as any American black.
So open your wallets, G-Town kiddies! I demand a slice of the pie!
