Homer often referred to the wine-dark sea...
Those Bronze Age years must have been interesting... Primarily coastal navigation, simple rigs, and all sorts of independent cultures like the Minoans all over the place. The Med never scared me... Must have shocked the jellybeans out of those fine sailors to finally enter the Atlantic.
