President Trump announced Monday afternoon he will nominate Acting Interior Secretary David Bernhardt to serve as the next Secretary of the Interior.
I am pleased to announce that David Bernhardt, Acting Secretary of the Interior, will be nominated as Secretary of the Interior. David has done a fantastic job from the day he arrived, and we look forward to having his nomination officially confirmed!
Bernhardt took on the acting position last fall when then Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke stepped down and was under a number of ethics investigations. Bernhardt is an attorney who held positions at the Interior Department during the George W. Bush administration.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, facing federal investigations into his travel, political activity and potential conflicts of interest, will be leaving the administration at years end, President Donald Trump said Saturday. In his resignation letter, obtained by The Associated Press, Zinke said vicious and politically motivated attacks against him had created an unfortunate distraction in fulfilling the agencys mission.
Zinkes resignation letter, obtained from a Zinke aide on Saturday, cites what he calls meritless and false claims and says that to some, truth no longer matters.
Secretary of the Interior @RyanZinke will be leaving the Administration at the end of the year after having served for a period of almost two years. Ryan has accomplished much during his tenure and I want to thank him for his service to our Nation.......
Surprise. Surprise... Another Bushy is on deck...
Get with the program...... Trump is president
Hire em and Fire em if they fail the grade
It’s about doing the job....
Perhaps you should have applied for the job?
Trump is starting to phone it in.
True,... but who else can get a confirmation? No vibrant Trump supporter thats for certain.
“Hire em and Fire em if they fail the grade”
Trump is a Project Manager. He hires people to do a job and when that job is over, he releases them. SOP for a PM.
Then give us some name of people you would want to be Interior Secretary, instead of the classic FR hot take of if they drove through DC at some point in the past 50 years then they are evil.
And if you say Sarah Palin, or list a bunch of people that you know only because they are on TV a bunch, then seriously stop acting like you really care who is in this position.
When Ryan Zinke announced his retirement, some folks on Free Republic reported that this guy was solid, and Dems might rue the day they hounded out Zinke.
Zinke’s legacy will be the explosion of oil and gas leases on Federal lands and waters, making us into the dominant energy superpower on Earth.
Fair winds and following seas for brother Zinke, while the new guy battens down the hatches for a storm, and goes to battle stations.
Support Free Republic, Folks!
Well a Bush retread is not gong to be a good thing EVER. They will be in the of the Cheap Labor Express.
Bump!
Ryan Zinke was fantastic! He should have stayed the course.
These people will never get it. They never served in business. Just sat their @sses at the governmnent trough or worked in the liberal media that promotes the chaos narrative.
I don’t care one single bit who the Interior Secretary is, as long as she can type more 70 words a minute and looks good in a skirt.
Thank you for that background context. So Zinke became public enemy number one to the left because he approved oil and gas leases that drew the ire of those on the payroll of other oil producing nation states.
It all makes sense.
I think the American oil and gas industry will take good care of him as he deserves it.
What a hellhole DC is with all those leftist a-holes there thinking they own the place.
