After first admitting and apologizing for appearing in a racist photo in his 1984 medical school yearbook, Gov. Ralph Northam has been calling Democratic leaders saying he isn't one of the two men in the image.

Virginia Sen. Louise Lucas who represents Portsmouth said Northam called her this morning and said he wouldn’t step down.

“I’m not going to resign because it’s not me in that photo,” Lucas said, recalling what he told her.

I just watched around fifty minutes of the VA Governor shuckin' and jivin' with reporters concerning his predicament.

Since I consider you the wisest man here on FR concerning the South and all things of the South:

Would you please add anything you wish to this Governor's contorted explanation of his predicament?

I’m glad to see anyone push back against the thought police who are engaging in this crap, even when it’s someone whose politics I oppose.

Conservatives who want to join the Left in cultural censorship and ruining people over bad taste are playing a fool’s game.

Margaret Sanger spent her last years as a bigwig in the Tucson Republican Women’s Club. Sanger was a pal of Goldwater’s wife, and before WWII they teamed up to open Arizona’s first birth control clinic.

In the currently popular revisionist history every bad idea is supposed to have originated with Democrats. But the American euthanasia movement had roots among Republicans.

In fact a lot of progressive ideas began with Republicans. People who think that Woodrow Wilson and Democrats started it all need to learn something about Teddy Roosevelt and California’s Republican Governor Hiram Johnson.

Founder of the Republican Party and Lincoln supporter Horace Greeley published Karl Marx in his newspaper for years.

“Founder of the Republican Party and Lincoln supporter Horace Greeley published Karl Marx in his newspaper for years.”

Marx and Engels closely followed the Civil War. Years ago I found a book of their civil war writings for Greeley’s newspaper; I’ve seen pdfs of it online more recently.

Marx and Engels were ardent supporters of the Union, despite the current myth of a few kooks that the Confederacy had some sort of connection with Marx.

It was quite the opposite, Marx despised the South. He wrote a letter of encouragement to Lincoln as secretary of the First International. And the Union Army and Lincoln’s administration had a large number of “’48ers” in it, German radicals and friends of Marx who had attempted a series of revolutions in Europe.

48ers even played a major role at Ripon in founding the GOP. Not that such history seems to slow down storytellers these days. They like their history to be a simple morality tale with the Republican Party in the starring role. Can’t have any unseemly comrades lurking in the past.

Haven’t yet read this article but it doesn’t sound logical that AL SHARPTON would say to Gov. Gosnell Northam, “BEAT IT”.

As Mr. Spock would say it would be more LOGICAL for Sharpton to say “EAT IT”, which he has said at more free “all you can eat buffets” than any other man who ever lived, including Louie the XIVth.

When I asked my cat Fluffy what he thought of Sharpton, he roared, “TAWANA BRAWLEY”. And you thought elephants were the only animals to have good memories.

Sharpton is the “longest running con game” in the world. When asked about this, Willie Sutton, the famous bank robber said from jail, “I should have done what Sharpton has been getting away with for about 50 years. Then I wouldn’t be in jail and not getting all that free food. And I could have gone to the Clinton White House 70 times to meet with other great con-artists such as Bill and Hillary”.

Usually, it’s Republicans who are the targets of this fake outrage over racial slurs or faux pas. And make no mistake - they are mostly fake.

Are blacks really so thin-skinned that they can’t handle a comedy skit involving black-face or a Klan costume? No. There are countless movies and TV shows with such costumes - and everyone laughs - as they should if it’s funny.

Almost always, when an example of such behavior is dug up from a politician’s past, any “outrage” is totally fake - it is an opportunity to score political points by pointing the finger and crying “racist”.

Of course, there are those rare cases where the politician actually WAS a Klan member - and outrage would be appropriate - but even then there is no outrage if the politician is a Democrat.

Here we have an even rarer case where there is faked outrage even though the politician is a Democrat. Why? I think there are some special circumstances. For one thing, the Democrat governor being forced to resign is a white male and will likely be replaced by the lieutenant governor, a black female, and also a Democrat. Secondly, the Democrats occasionally need to “sacrifice” one of their own in order to appear nonpartisan when playing the race card, or the bigot card.

We conservatives should be careful not to jump on the bandwagon whenever a Democrat becomes the target of fake outrage over supposedly racist costumes worn in comedy skits. By piling on, we pay lip service to the disgusting practice of playing the “race card”. Why should we endorse a political weapon which is almost exclusively used by the Left to destroy good conservatives?

I’d like to see this Democrat driven from office by the voters for pushing the Democrats’ Leftist agenda, not for wearing black-face in some comedy skit. We conservatives aren’t doing ourselves any favors by participating in this fake outrage, just because he’s a Democrat.
