The cuts, which will impact around 250 people, are part of new CEO Nancy Dubuc's strategic plan to tighten spending and achieve profitability.
Vice Media is planning a reorganization that will include laying off about 10 percent of its workforce as the once high-flying startup looks to rein in an unwieldy business that grew quickly during the height of the digital boom.
Around 250 jobs are expected to be cut, a company spokeswoman tells The Hollywood Reporter, as the 2,500-person Vice reduces redundancies internationally and reorients to focus on growth areas like film and television production and branded content. All departments at every level are expected to have layoffs, from IT to finance to television.
"Having finalized the 2019 budget, our focus shifts to executing our goals and hitting our marks," CEO Nancy Dubuc wrote in a memo sent to staff on Friday morning that was shared with THR. "We will make Vice the best manifestation of itself and cement its place long into the future."

"Well, that's just evil!" -- SJW
Fortunately, they will never actually figure out how to be profitable, so they will remain Pure. And go out of business.
I have a feeling that VOX Media will be next....
Too bad, so sad.
The pot channel isn’t profitable... whoda thunk?
Is this the cable channel that in my system morphed from History 2 to Vice?
History 2 was to History what VH1 2 was to VH1. That is, the original channel went all reality programs, so the “2” channel aired what the original channel used to air. In H2’s case, it was programs about history, imagine that?
Anyway, Vice TV is crap. I never watch it. It deserves to go under.
They should learn to code
VOX is one of them.
They're likely hemorrhaging money like a hemophiliac suffering multiple stab wounds but VOX must not close.
Someone is pouring money into the hole that is VOX.
When Conservative Gavin McInness founded Vice, it was FINE.
And then it went full SJW:
Now it’s NOT fine.
And it’s going to go the same way as The Weakly Standard, eventually.
That’s a shame ;)
They should learn to code
They would stand a better chance of finding a good manufacturing job, while they are hot!
If not, “Would you like fries with your order, sir?”
Apparently, yes. I had a look a the Wikipedia page for the Vice channel, and it stated:
"In August 2016, it was reported that average viewership of Viceland's programming was down by nearly half over H2 (in a period from November 28 to December 15, 2016, the network had average primetime viewership of 58,000 in the 18-49 demographic, down from 95,600 one year prior under H2)."
No wonder the company is having problems achieving profitability.!
Well, Comcast’s NBCUniversal division is funding Vox Media—I believe the amount was US$200 million. Given Comcast’s finances (they’ll be a huge player in the streaming media world because of their recent rollout of DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit Internet over cable lines), I wouldn’t be surprised that Vox Media gets another cash infusion soon. Besides, their sports-related properties are actually quite good.
Worthless channel, all drugs all the time.
Once shared an Airbnb house with a VICE filmmaker. Uh oh.
To our surprise, he was not a d!ck even though he lived in New York. We didn’t discuss politics per se, but he volunteered that he did filming with Donald Trump and knows him well. Weird huh.
