Trump says Rosenstein assured him he is not a Mueller target
The Hill ^ | 02/01/19 | John Bowden

President Trump on Thursday dismissed special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into his former associates and his presidential campaign in a New York Times interview in which the president said Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told him the probe does not view him as a target.

In the interview, Trump says Rosenstein has made clear to him that he is "not a subject" of Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“He told the attorneys that I’m not a subject, I’m not a target,” Trump said.

“Rod told me I’m not a target of the investigation,” the president added, while suggesting he had not spoken with Rosenstein directly. “The lawyers ask him. They say, ‘He’s not a target of the investigation.’ ”

Trump has often derided the special counsel probe, calling it a "witch hunt" and a "hoax" frequently adding that there was "no collusion" between Russia and his presidential campaign.

In the interview, Trump also maintained that he had nothing to do with an effort to have Roger Stone contact WikiLeaks on the Trump campaign's behalf, as alleged in court filings. Stone allegedly attempted to learn about damaging troves of stolen Democratic Party and Clinton campaign emails before they were released publicly.

“No, I didn’t. I never did,” Trump responded, when asked if he directed Stone to talk to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. “Never did."

Stone, who was arrested last week and charged with multiple counts including witness tampering, has maintained his innocence and has entered a not guilty plea.

I have long believed if Trump has one flaw it's that he's too nice.

Trump is all to willing to take people at their word and not assume they're lying or have ulterior motives.

A man of honesty and integrity often falsely assumes other people are just like them and can too easily be conned by liars.

Rosenstein is lying because he believes that he has no obligation to tell the truth to the Subject.

Trump has always been the target of the Coup. These a**holes think they ARE the government and elected officials are merely temporary, and not legitimate.

That’s a huge relief.

All of these rumors about investigations, indictments, and convictions, and it is all just that, rumors, and innuendo.

Context matters. I generally trust people I deal with. But if I were in Washington D.C., I wouldn’t trust anyone.

If Roseisnstein told me to go left, I’d turn right and run at full speed. What a slimy worm!

“Not being viewed as a target” does not equate to “not being a target”. Trump can be elevated to becoming a target at any moment.

He may not be the target of a criminal investigation, but he is the target of a political investigation for opposition research.

James Comey told President Trump the same thing.....three times.

Comey also said he would NOT put that out to the public....in case things change.

Looks like things haven't changed.

Then it should not be politically damaging to terminate this 4th branch of government of non-elected officials.

"Trust but verify".

Trump makes the fatal mistake of trusting people because he himself is trustworthy.

He's swimming with sharks but doesn't see the danger because he's not a backstabbing, lying shark.

MORE DEEP STATE CRIMES: Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Wray LIED TO TRUMP and Congress– Said He Was Not Under Investigation

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me...

I'm beginning to wonder what's afoot.

Who's really in charge when you allow this to happen to one of your strongest supporters:

More agents sent to get Roger Stone than bin Laden!

The language here is very important.

Comey told Trump he wasn't a target of an investigation.

Trump used the word "subject" to describe his conversation with Rosenstein. In legal parlance, that description is much more broad than what Comey told Trump.

IF they are lying to Trump, then they have him right where they want him.

All of this makes your head spin!!

Being from NYC, Trump should know to never trust these people at all.

Trump has a problem if he doesn’t address the leak of Stone’s raid to CNN because it affects his national security clearance, which oversees the DOJ and Mueller’s team. As team leader Mueller is responsible for leaks under his watch. President Trump has to suspend Mueller’s national security clearance until the leaker is prosecuted, at risk of losing his clearance for failure to act. After that, Mueller’s report is either public or inaccessible to him. And without clearance Mueller doesn’t have the invisibility of communications under secret clearances necessary to command his globalist insurrectionists.

They are synonyms in this case. Neither word is found in Black’s dictionary. You’re overthinking it.
