Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador declared an end to his country’s war on drugs Wednesday, announcing that the army would no longer prioritize capturing cartel bosses, Agence France-Press reports.
“There is officially no more war. We want peace, and we are going to achieve peace,” he said at a daily press briefing after being asked if his government had captured any kingpins since he assumed office in December.
“No capos have been arrested, because that is not our main purpose. The main purpose of the government is to guarantee public safety … What we want is security, to reduce the daily number of homicides.”

Sounds like he just declared open season on the cartels taking control of more and more. Soon, they will have no need for a “Mexican president”, as the government will have been swallowed up by the cartels.
He’s probably got his personal situation all set up, and doesn’t care what happens to the rest of the country.

B. López Obrador was threatened to end the drug war.
C. Both of the above.

Didn’t the last Mexican president get $100,000,000 from the cartels? What is the going rate?

I think a Cartel Boss gave him an ultimatum of what was going to happen to his family unless he bowed down before them.
WTF is going on. It is time to hold Mexico accountable. Shut-off all remittances to Mexico now!
Now we know why Obrador is so agreeable. He’s setting the stage to legalize drugs in Mexico. He was bought and paid for before he took office.
Does this mean that Mexico is legalizing drugs?
Just one more good reason to build the wall.
