Godless
They can strike His name off all they want.
On the last day, He will strike them off for all eternity for denying His Kingship.
After 5 trillion years, it’s just getting started. Fools!
“Separation of Church and state” is a falsehood, promulgated by those having an ignorance of American history. The phrase is a bastardization of a term used by Thomas Jefferson, in his letter of 1 January, 1802, to the Danbury Baptist Association in Connecticut. The phrase has been hijacked, and used completely out of context, as a lever to remove God from the public square - a folly to which none of our founders would have given their assent.
Keep digging, Democrats!
Keep digging!
Bingo.
They are so clueless.
They are like two year olds who think that if they close their eyes, you can’t see them.
Others may disagree with such an exegesis and they would have every right to do so. I certainly could not hold it against them if they felt the language in Matthew prohibited them from taking such an oath. They are certainly within their rights to insist on merely agreeing to tell the truth subject to the laws of perjury - which is all the Federal and most state Court systems require.
Thanks for your comments.
There are really two components to the discussion:
1. Jefferson’s 1802 speech, upon which there are two opinions stated here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_and_state_in_the_United_States
2. The original text of the 1st Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...”
In all fairness, it appears that the 1st Amendment makes the case by itself. If the gov’t requires respecting an establishment of religion (e.g. requires people to say “so help me God” in court oaths) then the gov’t is essentially contradicting the 1st Amendment, is it not?
One Nation Under...
...only because they weren’t allowed to boo God.
What was the original term?
Who needs Schultz as Independent. Trump will walk to victory in 2020 against nitwits like these, with or without a second leftard party.
That was nice of you to say.
;)
Jefferson argued the point that the Constitution’s establishment clause forbade the government from creating a “state religion.” He did not express nor intend (by even a cursory review of his writings) any opinion forbidding the mention or inclusion of God in the public square, including government. A simple review of the writings of our founders, and their contemporaries, refutes this asinine insistence that a “separation of Church and State” requires the absolute and total banishment of God from the Public square. In fact, quite the opposite is true - and I could provide a litany of examples to support this contention.

You are correct sir, but how about this, for perspective? If a bird flew by Mount Everest every 5 trillion years, and rubbed a grain of sand off the mountain, by the time that bird wore that mountain down flat, eternity will have just begun. Does that put it in perspective? 😁👍
I think the government has already violated that idea, and has established the religion of peace, as its state religion. 👎😤🤬
House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., told Fox News she's not surprised by the move. "They really have become the party of Karl Marx," she said.
Godless Communists one and all
