Stacey Abrams will deliver the Democratic response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address next week, giving the former gubernatorial candidate one of the nation’s most prominent pulpits as she considers whether to run for U.S. Senate in 2020.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters he asked her to deliver the address, which will air shortly after Trump finishes his address to a joint session of Congress next week, because “she has led the charge for voting rights, which is at the root of just about everything else.”
The speech will be a pivotal moment for Abrams, who narrowly lost last year’s gubernatorial race to Republican Brian Kemp and refused to formally concede the race, citing his refusal to step down as the state’s top elections official.

Traveling from Fayetteville GA to the closest-to-us Trader Joe’s in Mid-Town Atlanta last Saturday. As I routinely do, I took the path less traveled to get downtown. Still lots of Abrams campaign signs in place.
Never underestimate the rank stupidity of Democrat voters.

Ok, she was looking to run for President? Excuse me, but didn’t she lose the Gubernatorial race in Georgia? I didn’t know that losing is a stepping stone to the presidency. Abhrams/Gillum 2020: ‘Because we lost our states’. Yes, the winning ticket* for 2020.
Why does the SOTU require a rebuttal? The executive branch has a constitutional duty to report to legislative branch the country’s state of affairs. It’s not supposed to be about politics, it is simply about what is happening in the union: problems, potential problems, solved problems, identifying administrative needs, etc. Are there two sets of data regarding what the administrative branch is doing? Is the legislature collecting its own data that contradicts the presidents stats? Do they have a better method for ascertaining the true state of affairs in the executive branch than the president so hence, a rebuttal? If the legislature believes for some reason that the president is deliberately lying about certain facts and figures, and a coverup is taking place, then a rebuttal is not what is needed; congressional hearings are what is needed!
Mark my words, we dismiss this garbage at our risk.
