Toys-R-Us didn’t die just due to pricing.
They spent decades with policies which allowed store with rude customer service.

In the end, a great many people cheered their demise.

Best Buy had no intention of doing the right thing
BUT they did it, albeit, after the fact.

It is worker’s comp or insurance that forces these sorts of decisions. If I, as a security guard, does something to save somebody, not on the job site or within my working hours, and I get injured, I can be denied coverage.

Our experience would lead one to re-name it “Worst Buy!”

Liability They probably don’t train use of physical force. Most security is some guy who can’t qualify to be a cop and they give him a radio or cell phone.

My daughter was 100 pounds soaking wet and a smart gal. Mervyns hired her with a masters degree to be chief of security at their store. She use her brains and backed up her calls by showing up in court the cops liked her and gave her a radio system which went straight to the patrol cars.

But she was totally vulnerable if she and her employees tried to actually stop someone. No training, no experience. Follow them to the parking lot and hope the cops come out and hope they don’t pull a gun and shoot you.

So they had employees try to physically stop people when they had no training.

Knowing what i know now about store security. you can steal something in your clothes and walk out to the car. If there are no cops, you will get away.

Their CEO is a “Nancy Boy!”

“Hubert Joly is a businessman who was born in Nancy, France, on August 11, 1959. He currently holds the positions of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Best Buy.”

Just yesterday I left Walmart and outside the door was the guy supposed to be watching carts exiting having a cigarette. He stopped me and said I see you have TWO bags of ice, let me see your receipt. Too late man... “You should have been in there doing your job” and I just kept going. lol

I know the general manager of this store and another 40 miles away, we have been on a first name basis for about 15 years now over stopping me without any evidence I did anything wrong. The local law enforcement has explained it to him several times. unless they have evidence on camera or by an eye witness they cannot legally stop and detain you.

I used to understand it and put up with it because of the rampant theft issues, but now these kids are targeting me because I dress like a redneck. THAT is starting to bother me and I’m not putting up with it anymore. Any other trump supporters starting to also notice this trend?

Now my answer is “no... call the cops if you like... I’ll be right out there in that white truck loading my ice chests for quite awhile, So If you like I’ll wait for them to show up and THEY can check my receipt”.

I find them consistently and extraordinarily overpriced, plus I could never buy anything there without having to endure their relentless hard sell on their extended warranty ripoff. Even when I firmly said no repeatedly, they'd have to call their manager over because they were not supposed to take no for an answer.

I finally walked out in the middle of a transaction and have never returned. That was at least 15 years ago.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. I was all set to buy a very large TV. A fairly pricey item. They salesman tried to sell me cables. I said I had some. He tried to sell me a sound system. I said no. He tried to sell me something else. I said, "Look, here's my credit card, there's the TV. I am buying the TV. Not one other thing. If you try to sell me anything else, I'm walking out."

He said, "Okay. Okay. I get it. Ummmmmmm, would you like to buy a three year warranty with that?"

I haven't been back since.

He was formerly a CEO of a “Hospitality Company,” (Carlson)! Really a good fit don’t you think?

Why install the vehicle crash posts in front of the entry doors?

Those are cylindrical walls.

I am offended.

Yeah, I can mildly agree with your observations from many years ago. But this is 15 years later - drop in and give them a second chance.
Fifteen years ago I bough a 55" Sony HDTV at BB. Price was $1500, but bought the floor model for $1000.
Got it home and it failed within 3 days. Took it back to BB and they exchanged it - for a NEW one - no charge.

Liability They probably don’t train use of physical force.

Correction: These billion dollar companies don't "pay" to train their security people in the use of force. It's all about money/liability. They don't give a rip about sending some person out there to play security who has near zero training and are totally unarmed. If they only want an observer, just install cameras in the store and parking lot if they don't have them already.

Sorry, but its COWARDICE in any world...

Corporations have used the excuse “do the right thing for shareholders”, when they should be simply “doing the right thing”, period.

We live in the greatest country the world has ever known, when you do the right thing, your shareholders will get rewarded, if you put “do the right thing for shareholders” above “do the right thing” period, then you are part of the problem....
