There are two sides to special counsel Robert Mueller's indictment of longtime Trump associate Roger Stone. On one side there are the under-oath statements Stone made to the House Intelligence Committee that Mueller says are false. On the other, there are the Stone statements Mueller did not challenge.
The testimony for which Stone was indicted concerns his descriptions of dealings with two men Jerome Corsi and Randy Credico who Stone used to attempt to get in touch with WikiLeaks head Julian Assange in the summer and fall of 2016, at the height of the presidential campaign, when WikiLeaks published hacked emails relating to Hillary Clinton. Some of Mueller's charges seem somewhat small; for example, Stone was charged with lying because he said he and Credico communicated by phone but not by email when in fact, according to Mueller, they communicated by both phone and email. But in each case, Mueller says Stone knowingly made false statements.
On the other hand, the indictment does not accuse Stone of lying in some key instances when he defended himself against some of the most serious allegations of the Trump-Russia matter. Remember the media frenzy over Stone's August 2016 tweet that it would soon be "the Podesta's time in the barrel"? Remember Stone's tweets with Guccifer 2.0? And remember his claim, "I dined with my new pal Julian Assange last night"? House investigators asked Stone many questions about those topics, which Stone answered. Mueller did not charge Stone with lying about those issues, or with any illegal underlying behavior, either.

No you dumbass (York) ut’s more than it seems. It’s the deep state Gestapo trying to intimidate us all. I’ve seen this movie and it doesn’t end well.
'Uniparty' is making more sense each and every day. Trump REALLY is one man against an evil machine.
If only the feds had sent in enough men to save our heroes in Benghazi
bttt
Hillary’s substantive crimes were a Billion times more damaging to our nation than Stone’s alleged process crimes.
Violence is certainly the solution of the weak in Mueller’s case. The more violent and brazen because the weakest the case. Mueller is a knucklehead and should be taken off the job.
If there was a case against Stone, he clearly is botching it anyways.
Who the heck remembers every email they get ?
This^^
It’s bad. ‘Our’ corrupt stasi state doesn’t care how it looks. This is in your face tyranny
Charges don’t matter. It’s made for TV political theater and a bodycount talking point for the Dems.”382 Trump associates have been indicted, everyone who works for him is a criminal, etc.”
Because of how the infamous “Martha Stewart” precedent of screwing over innocent people with so-called “process crimes” has spread like cancer, you’d think that the very first thing said by a target of such an investigation would be, “Because the risk of abusive prosecutions over imaginary ‘process crimes’ is so extremely high, I decline to speak to you without benefit of counsel. If and when I speak to you under the direct supervision of my personal legal counsel, I will upon advice of said counsel refuse to speak to you at all. Also, up yours, you snotty, nasty vermin.”
“Mueller charged Stone with making a false statement because Stone had also contacted Jerome Corsi, not just Credico, to act as a go-between with WikiLeaks.”
OMG, put him away for 20 years. This is a process “crime” if I ever saw one. Stone was probably talking to a lot of people about hitlery’s emails, and God forbid he forgot an intermediary. You know, those emails that probably have info on Uranium 1, Benghazi stand down, giving info to Russian high tech companies.
Mueller has known that the Russian collusion narrative was a croc for a long time. His chief hit man is Weissman, and this kapo knew from Ohr that the dossier that was used spy on Trump was BS even before the Mueller witch hunt. But that’s ok becuse withholding exculpatory evidence is his specialty.
Meuller was at FBI during Uranium one. He was at the nexus of not just Russian collusion, but high treason. So divert the public’s attention with bogus process crimes do we never find out about the hanging offenses.
The FBI and DOJ are clearly unaccountable. This investigation needs to be shut down. FBI DOJ must be replaced. They are supposed to be part of the executive branch, but the President has no de facto control over them, only in theory. The people at the DOJ and FBI don’t care about the Constitution, 4th, 6th amendments either. The “boots on the ground” at the FBI thought nothing of raiding Stone with a force stronger than the raid on Osama. Apparently the “good people” at the FBI are just following orders like their counterparts at Nuremberg.
Who’s going to be raided next? Jerome Corsi, Alex Jones, Eric Prince. These raids are dangerous because they are needlessly provocative. One of these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone fought back during a raid.
All this damn ‘lying is a Federal felony’ is bullsheist to cover Fed prosecutors who can’t otherwise get a prosecution (CAN YOU SAY MUELLER?).
Actually, he’s saying the indictment seems pretty important, but it’s far less than that.
I think you’re both on the same page.
i think someone needs to walk up and p*ss on his leg!
No kidding...great point....
If only the Feds had sent in HALF this many armed agents, to save our heroes in Benghazi.
York needs to explain this to Krispy Kreme.
I said that sentence verbatim to the missus when we saw the news the other day. Incredible. Great job Mueller, he caught Roger Stone not remembering that he used both phone AND email to communicate with a couple of marginal players. If that isn’t pure political retribution I am not sure what is.
