Ocasio-Cortez calls Big Tech giants' dominance 'unsustainable'
WSLS ^ | 1/27/19 | DONIE O'SULLIVAN, GREGORY KRIEG

(CNN) - Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has quickly become one of Washington's most prolific social media users, but this weekend the New York freshman said Silicon Valley companies had too much power and that "the current monopoly trend is societally and economically unsustainable."

Ocasio-Cortez's comments came in the aftermath of layoffs at a number of number of news organizations, including BuzzFeed and HuffPost.

"The biggest threats to journalism right now are tech monopolies & concentration of ownership," she tweeted on Saturday, adding: "The fact of the matter is the current monopoly trend is societally & economically unsustainable. We can't simply accept the cliché that 'journalism is dying.' Journalism will only die if we choose not to fight for it - and if journalism dies, our democracy will, too."

"Hitler, had been expelled from Catholic school and then blamed the Jews because he couldn’t get into art school. He simply wasn’t good enough . . . "

Actually, I've seen a number of Hitler's paintings, and in my opinion they are very respectable - mostly paintings of public buildings and urban street scenes. He probably could have been a magazine or advertising illustrator, and the world would have been better off if he had.

Actually, Liz, I think the idiot was unintentionally right this time — the Pilgrims evidently based their colony on what ultimately proved to be a disastrous experiment with socialism. That's what I vaguely recall from my old American history classes from decades ago. When the survivors abandoned socialism in favor of private enterprise after much of the colony had succumbed to famine and disease, they suddenly did much better. I don't expect this sort of historical accuracy to be very popular with the socialist crowd, though.

But Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wouldn’t you also say Government has become economically unsustainable with a debt which can never be repaid?

Apparently you have’t become acquainted with AoC and BS’s economic advisor:

You’ve attributed a (remarkably prescient) joke from SNL to AOC. That’s unfair! Almost as unfair as how everyone on the left attributed a SNL “joke” to Sarah Palin. (”I can see Russia from my house”.)

I like it. Don’t stop.

Hey, bartender, fix me a glass of ice water.

Now why are you being cruel? You know she doesn't have the recipe for that.

Hitler wanted to be a fine artist - he was okay just doing standard stuff, but he thought he was too “special” to be a commercial artist. He had a somehwat odd family background, but obviously not everybody with an odd family background turns into a sociopathic monster. He seems to have had a sense of entitlement, however, and if he didn’t achieve something, it wasn’t because of his failings, but because of a “conspiracy” against him.

He took over many more civilized and intelligent people in order to carry out his grudge, but it seems that throughout history, there have been people like him. And they attract followers with imaginary grudges. That’s why I don’t think we should scoff at the possibility that the ignorant, semi-nuts but very ambitious Occasional Cortex may be the next Dem presidential candidate ... even though she won’t be old enough...and may very well win.

Thanks for posting what many of are thinking!

Wonder what the big wigs at Goggle, Fakebook, Twit, etc., who love to lick the boots of idiots like Occasional Cortex, think about this?

Probably that, as big financial contributors to these far-left nitwits, the tech millionaires and billionaires are supposed to be immune from criticism.

I wonder how much longer Occasional Cortex will be the darling of the techies.

I stopped at "Kelton’s core idea ― that the government can’t run out of money or go bankrupt, no matter how much it spends".

She's a dreamer and does not want to factor in the issues of US losing it's reserve currency status and confiscating wealth which will kill capitalism.

She is very dangerous if leaders are listening to this message.

Do you you know what the F**k you are talking about, moron?
Do you know what Big Data is doing? Computers with Microsoft, Chrome or Apple OS gave people the way to use computers without learning how to program computers. You are an idoit and you should go back to bartending...but I bet you don’t know how to bartend correctly...

AOC... as long as you need technology, and I need technology, and countries need technology, and Technology needs to be upgraded, it’s sustainable. I guess it would become unsustainable if Earth took a massive meteor strike. Then we wouldn’t need all that infrastructure any longer.

Ok, you were apparently aware that Hitler had the capacity to be a commercial artist, but not the “great” artist that he aspired to being. Because of all the derogatory comments about Hitler’s artistic ability, many people probably assume he had no talent whatsoever.

AOC probably didn’t know how to run the computerized cash register either... But you knew how to steal the tip jar money.
