Following the medias horribly distorted, biased reporting of a minor confrontation between a group of Catholic high school boys and a Native American activist, which helped fuel a hateful online lynch mob against the students, many have called for lawsuits to be filed against the media figures and outlets that perpetuated the false story.
One such lawsuit could be coming in the near future. The family of Nick Sandmann the young man at the center of the media-fueled controversy has reportedly hired a high-profile attorney who specializes in defamation, libel and slander lawsuits against the media.
The Sandmann family have retained the services of an Atlanta-based attorney named L. Lin Wood, who has quite a history of defending individuals and families wrongly accused and smeared by the media, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday.
The news was announced in a release from the law firm of Hemmer DeFrank Wessels. Todd McMurty, an attorney with that firm, has already served as the family attorney for the Sandmanns.

Oh Lord, that would be SO GREAT.
Barnes was on Watters World a minute ago. He’s legit and seems very good.
Barnes was on the Alex Jones radio show last night. He said he is representing the families and explained some possible legal approaches, etc.
Wonder if anyone has alerted them to Bill Mahar’s comments on his show?
Lin delivered a preservation of evidence to Foy regarding his “libelous statements”. Foy’ s apology followed. This is on Lin’s Twitter. Take no prisoners approach. I like it. Maybe Foy shouldn’t follow thru with 3rd party investigator.
I sent them an email.
Oooh, I like that part!
If anyone has information they believe is helpful to Nick, communicate w/ us by email: supportnick@linwoodlaw.com.

He is not a “public figure” under the meaning in defamation law (though his name and face have certainly now been widely publicized, but he is a minor and not someone who had ever worked in public roles or sought such publicity).
The “actual malice” (higher) standard is for defamation cases involving public figures.
I’m no lawyer but I think it is not going to be difficult to show “negligence” in many of these cases, especially for news organizations and prominent individuals used to working in the public square.
Rep. Ilhan Omar is the latest public figure to catch the attention of the attorney for the Covington Catholic students, Robert Barnes, who is threatening to sue just about anyone who he thinks spread libel against his clients.
This is libel. Retract, or get sued, Barnes tweeted, quoting a now-deleted tweet from the Minnesota Democrat in which she claimed the teens were at fault for the confrontation Saturday at the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington, D.C., between the students from the Northern Kentucky school and Native American Nathan Phillips.
OMAR TWEETED: The boys were protesting a womans right to choose & yelled its not rape if you enjoy it. Omar tweeted Tuesday night, before deleting the tweet Wednesday morning. She also erroneously wrote that the students were taunting 5 Black men before they surrounded Phillips and led racist chants. (Excerpt) Read more at rollcall.com ...
"At this time, Nick, his family and their lawyers will not be engaging in media interviews. There is work to be done. If any member of the public has information, they believe is helpful to Nick, that information can be communicated to us by email to supportnick@linwoodlaw.com."
An unrelated comment- I was just thinking what polar opposites Nick Sandman and David Hogg are. Hero and Zero.
I hope the apology was understandable as Mumbles Brokaw can be downright incomprehensible with those marbles he carries around in his mouth.
Seriously, I hope you’re right. Imagine, a conservative kid taking over CNN and having them do a 180 in the ideology department.
And keeping the CNN logo, only change the meaning to Conservative News Network.
Unfortunately it would be like Trump’s assuming the Presidency, everyone including their pet kitten trying to stab him in the back.
Great!
Terroristic threats against schools should not be allowed to stand with the past school shootings we have had.
Holy Heck, what did Bill Maher say??? I think it’s been scrubbed already.
Video of Maher on breibart.
