Ted cruz statement on shutdown
Facebook ted cruz ^ | Jan 25 2019 | Ted Cruz

Posted on 01/25/2019 4:27:40 PM PST by lonestar67

I am glad the Schumer shutdown is over. I am glad federal workers will finally be paid. For weeks, Democrats held their paychecks hostage. Yesterday, I fought hard to immediately pay every single essential federal employee – every essential employee at the Coast Guard, the TSA, air traffic controllers, Border Patrol agents, ICE agents, FBI agents, and those throughout law enforcement. Chuck Schumer and the Democrats cynically objected to that legislation and killed it on the Senate floor.

The Democrats have claimed that, once the shutdown ends, they are willing to negotiate in good faith to secure the border. Given their behavior, there is considerable reason to be skeptical of their claim. But, now, we will see if they actually meant what they said.

The media will obsess over the short-term political fight. But what matters is enacting real solutions to the real problems of this country. We have a crisis at our border, one that Texas experiences first-hand. We need real border security, including physical barriers to stop drug traffickers and human traffickers. I will continue to lead the fight to secure the border and get the job done. We must keep our word to the American people.

Perhaps the Democrats will end their partisan obstruction, set aside their hatred of the president, and agree to a reasonable compromise to actually secure the border. I hope so.

If not – if Democrats continue to embrace open borders at the expense of the American people – then today’s actions have made it all but inevitable that the president will declare a national emergency and deploy the funds and manpower necessary to build a steel barrier at high-traffic locations on the border.

The Dems can make a deal in the next three weeks where they get DACA and we get a wall -or- they can wait three weeks and get nothing and we get a wall.

Great statement by Cruz

Negative on that ... both Cruz and Cornyn turned their backs on border security by voting for this abortion of a funding bill. I certainly hope that somebody primaries each of these cowards from the Right when they next run for reelection ...

It may very well be that President Trump needed to make a tactical withdrawal to set the battlefield for the next fight. But neither of these two had any need to vote for the funding; they could have opposed it and showed the rest of the country what they stood for ...

Glad? The Republican Party is finished. There was hope Trump could revive it but what can you do when it’s members won’t help themselves. Every year the Democrats will get another million Mexican voters. Mueller is closing in so Trump will be one term. It is finished

I wish people would read or listen to my words on the Border Wall. This was in no way a concession. It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it’s off to the races!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2019

Samgangee, please take your suicidal despair somewhere else. It’s not all over, we’re not finished.

I’m disappointed also, but claiming it’s the end of the world is ridiculous.

OK, so riddle me this. Why did Trump wait to press for this until after Pelosi and the Rats took the House? He had plenty of time to make this happen when the Pukes still controlled the House.

Good theory and statement by The Cruzer.

But he’s “farting in the wind” if he truly thinks the dems - new leftists, fascists, socialists, anarchists, commies and other subhuman filth - will deal and keep their promises.

All this friendly fire on POTUS while letting the GOPe skate doesn’t make it any easier for Trump to win these historic battles.

The Uniparty is laughing on the way to the bank tonight. Judges by the news they are quite appreciative of the help they are getting from “deplorables.”

Amnesty Ryan and McConnell have been playing Peanuts with POTUS. They keep moving the football and since he is severely hamstrung by the Mueller Coup there is not much he can do about it.

75% of federal workings were supposedly getting paid during the shutdown. Why aren't the Coast Guard, the TSA, the air traffic controllers, the Border Patrol, the FBI and ICE not part of that 75%?????

The shutdown and news related to it are pretty relevant. Give us a break.
