The reason it didn't happen in December is raw power for Pelosi.

She knew she would become the Speaker in January, and so any bill in December was destined to die with the end of the 115th Congress.

This whole thing has been about the reemergence of Nancy Pelosi as a power broker. She wanted to start with a clean slate. We now know that she's willing to take the country to the brink of collapse to exert her power over everyone else.

If I were Schumer, I'd be very afraid. He's the one in the weakest position, not Trump. Pelosi is calling the shots regarding what gets into spending bills, and McConnell is calling the shots in the Senate regarding what bills get to the floor for a vote. Schumer is the one who has no power anymore.

Pres. Trump has now given the country leaders the carrot and stick approach to settle the govt shutdown as well as funding the border security wall that America needs. Unlike other presidents who unwisely trusted the democrat party to keep their promises to fund the wall if only this or that thing was done in return.

Pres Trump has set a deadline for negotiation on the entire situation and ended his address to the nation by affirming that either the wall is funded or he will use his presidential powers to get the job done without their help. I support Pres. Trump in this decision which tells the democrats to put up or shut up. He has afforded them the opportunity to work for the safety of America and the citizens who pay for this govt. God bless Pres Trump and keep him safe. February 15 is three weeks away. The democrat leaders and any recalcitrant Republican leaders had better get cracking.

What makes you believe a potential 9th circuit injunction if it happens, wouldn’t be quickly taken up and overruled by SCOTUS? Who besides illegal border jumpers would be harmed by a wall to show standing? There doesn’t seem to be much wiggle room, even for Roberts.

Never said anything about arresting congress or the military. The leaders of the coup are Clinton who paid for the phony dossier and Obama who approved the application for the FISA warrant.
