He’s waiting for RBG to retire.
In addition, he wants the photo op of DemoKKKrats sitting on their hands when he celebrates the low black and hispanic jobs numbers.
He WANTS people to see this.
He also knows that any other setting for the SOTU would not be covered-—the fake news networks would find an excuse not to cover it.

Thank you for a little sanity. The SOTU is a nothing more than a chess piece, and a not very important one at that. The important objective is the wall.
President Trump could have mopped the floor with this pathetic old hag - but what is the upside? Bragging rights that he beat up an old lady?
No, he played this exactly the right way; let her win a fight that exposes her petty partisanship, while the President gives up nothing and avoids looking like a bully.

No but there is value in using the bully-pulpit to hammer home the need for a physical barrier on the southern border. In the absence of the SOTU, the message still needs to be broadcast. So its an opportunity for win-win, but it could also be opportunity lost. I have confidence in POTUS, but the awkward silent moments are unsettling as well. I tell myself more is coming, and that maybe there is just too much noise in the news cycle for it to be the right time for the next punch now. Praying...

I think speeches can sometimes effect change - but usually, what is said in a speech is a repetition of what has already been said. Those who agree will cheer while those who disagree sit in stony silence.
Whatever impact the SOTU address itself may have had, this petty political maneuvering played by Pelosi has had a far, far greater impact. With the whole world watching, she has beclowned herself and the Democrats over this silliest of issues. She has shown a willingness to scuttle a century old tradition, hope of ending a shut down, and any real progress on border security - all in order to make a horribly childish and disrespectful partisan gesture.
And President Trump proves yet again that he is the adult in the room.
This will all work to the President’s advantage when the dust settles and they resume discussions on the wall.
The more stories of real victims of violence by illegals that can be told on TV, the more outrage and pressure on the dems to stop this charade.
IOW, PDJT will deliver a SOTU after Pelosi folds. And fold she will.
Not all Supreme Court Justices attend the SOTU. Some years, yes, some no.

You may be onto a new trend. The justices can attend to show support and not attend to show they hate Trump.
Then each president can have the same pro and con fan club versus hate group. Like the women who dressed in all white and protested Trump’s first speech to Congress silently to show their contempt and vicious hatred of him as the new leader.
I hereby nominate “unpropupability” as the neologism of the year (so far, at least).

All I said was “excellent” to the poster who said the Wall is a higher value than SOTU. I was trying to convince myself to adjust to the bad news. I have a hard time doing that.
I wish there could have been a plus for Trump somehow but since the dimwitted or evil American people voted for a Dem House with assumption that Pelosi was going to oppose Trump in that plan, she apparently has the ability to not invite “house” guests she doesn’t approve of. None of that statesmanship stuff or good of the country malarkey. Just selfish Pelosi for the selfish Dems.
What could have been the outcome you preferred?
I am not saying this to be contentious—I really want to know.

Understand how you’re looking at it. But I also think the President has demonstrated a great ability to go around roadblocks and stay lazer-focused on the intended target. It ain’t over ‘til it’s over!
