President Trump said late Wednesday that he would deliver his State of the Union address after the ongoing partial government shutdown is over.
"As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address," Trump wrote in a tweet. "I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over."
Trump clarified earlier statements suggesting he may do an “alternative” State of the Union, writing that he was not seeking an alternative venue because "there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber."
"I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!" he added.
Hmmm... I am curious about this one....
Wonder what he has up his sleeve.

Well, there’s that. I watched a movie on TV yesterday. It was called Wild in the Streets. I may have seen in back in 1968, but I did not remember it. It was about the 20 somethings (the hippie, druggie followers) winning elections (as they had lowered the voting age to 15) and putting everyone over 30 is concentration camps. It was really disturbing. And at the end of the movie, a young boy of 10 tells the 24 year old President ‘you are old. We are taking over now’. The Performance Theater of all the hippies shouting and beating tambourines in the gallery of the House Chamber was very much like the zoo-like atmosphere of the Kavanaugh hearings. We are getting to the tipping point.
Trump needs to telegraph strength, not capitulation. Pelousi MAY be panicking as she can no longer control the radicals in her majority, but she hasn’t cracked yet. This decision will not help that happen. I guess I just got fed up with all those on this Board putting forth the 4D chess of Sessions. I want to see strength again.
Ruthie is relieved. That is if she is still alive. I think this whole SOU kerfuffle was cover for the fact the Ruthie is already dead or totally incapacitated and could not attend.
I want the Dems there. I want them to pull thier far-left disrespect at the SOTUA.
I think it was all about covering for Ruth Buzzy. They don’t want it known she is totally incapacitated or even dead and can’t go the SOU.

I see it as a win for Trump. He let go of his end of the rope, and Nancy is falling back on her aged flabby keister.
You don’t seem to understand the “art of war”. He knows when to walk away.
I am very bothered by Trump for the lack of a better word “Caving” as now he looks weak and ineffective....I for one do not think he is working off the Art of War...
This is huge. The Dems are sick over it! Trump’s timing of the RGB replacement is more important than the wall. He has his pick ready to go.

If it was an unnecessary distraction, then Trump shouldn’t have fought it to start with. Now it looks like he’s just giving in.
The SOTU would have been a prime venue for making the case for The Wall, with all its theatrics and full TV coverage.
By not scheduling, he clearly puts it on her back that she, and only she, is holding up a time honored state of the union. This may well be a really smart move. Besides, he gets his message out daily anyhow and is in the throws of trying to move some dems on a deal.... right now in the Senate.
Yes, agree 100%. I find he too often plays both sides—almost bipolar? Irritating and leaves no one happy and muddles his message. I really hate waking up this morning and see that he has fed the media and now they have Trump Blinks, etc.

I agree now. Was disappointed at first. But then realized he was being the adult in this and he probably thought the shutdown would be over soon. Made him look better than childish Pelosi.
How has she won? She still can’t fly, and that humiliation will be with her for a very long time. Pelosi thought that President Trump would bite, and create a big show by holding his SOTU anyway. Now he’s taken all the wind from her sails. Plus, she looks bad for first inviting him while the shutdown was in its early days, then does a complete turnabout, and recommends that he postpones. What this tells me is that the bitch thought that President Trump would roll over, and not demand the wall funding. She was counting on it. It didn’t happen, so she disinvited him. Who looks more foolish and petty? It ain’t President Trump, that’s for sure.
Her trip on an Air Force jet was “postponed” by Trump, not cancelled. Rest assured that when it is re-scheduled after the shutdown, the media will cover every minute of the departure from Andrews as if she is the president, which she claims she is.
She recommended that he “postpone” the speech. Trump initially responded that he would give the speech as scheduled. Then she denied him entry into the House chamber...he then mumbled that he would do the speech later...bad optics from an Alpha male.
Maybe, as many suggest, Trump has a plan that will really give her pause. To my childlike intellect, it looks like he caved. All he’s done is turn the other cheek.
Color me very disappointed.
