President Trump said late Wednesday that he would deliver his State of the Union address after the ongoing partial government shutdown is over.
"As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address," Trump wrote in a tweet. "I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over."
Trump clarified earlier statements suggesting he may do an “alternative” State of the Union, writing that he was not seeking an alternative venue because "there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber."
"I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!" he added.

I agree! I still think President Trump should hold a rally in as big a venue as he can find. Not call it anything other than a MAGA rally — we, the people will get it! Pelosi’s and Schumer’s heads would explode!

Pelosi’s position is degrading among her supporters with time; Trump’s isn’t.
Time is on Trump’s side. Pelosi needs the shutdown to end much more than Trump does.
At this point it time it should be evident that the Democrats genuinely fear Trump talking to the American public directly.
By not canceling, but putting the speech at the end of the shutdown, he is playing on Pelosi’s fear to cause her to continue to damage her position. And because she is an idiot, she will predictably respond by being less eager to see the shutdown end.
From the day he stood atop the escalator stairs, I have been one of his BIGGEST and earliest supporters.
He has some flaws ( a massive one when it comes to choosing people to fill positions ), as we all have; however, even when he recently gave up the DACA stuff, I swallowed hard and kept mum. But this dumb move just tore it.
Yes, he's no politician, but I used to give him more credit for understanding how things are in THE SWAMP, than he deserved. He has supposedly followed politics all of his adult life, know many pols well, yet still fails to grasp the not so subtle things that he should have.

If Trump folded like a cheap suit, he's probably got his suitcase packed and is ready to hit the road...
I have a feeling there's not a single person on FR who could have beaten any one of those 16 runner ups in the Presidential Primary, let alone beat all of them...
No one wins every pot of every game...Somtimes ya hold 'em, sometimes you have to fold 'em...We don't have a clue what's going on behind the scenes...I'll trust Trump to make America great again...
And too, Trump may not get the wall...But I'll bet he's doing everything he can, playing the game as it has to be played, while working with what he has to work with to get that wall...
One thing I'm confident in is if Trump has to open the gov't without the wall, that won't be the end of it...

Buckeye or no other Freeper is leaving Trump to vote for Hillary or Bernia so lighten up. The President blinked after so many Freepers said he would march the marines into the House and deliver his speech, or some other ridiculous idea.
Freepers better start to realize that a good portion of the votes Trump got were protest votes against all the others, not necessarily for Trump. Caving to the Dems and GOPe will not hold those voters as the last election clearly showed. That defeat was sponsored by Ryan and Mitch because they inhibited the Presidents agenda.
The President is the only one negotiating and he is dealing like a seller, continually lowering his asking price, rather than a buyer.
Pelosi has the advantage, because unlike the f’ing Repukes, the Democrats stick together when it matters.

Hang in there. I am disappointed, too. But he has been very successful in so many areas and has a knack for winning. I am trusting that he will pull off another achievement in the end. Let’s give him some slack and see.
He has now agreed to NOT give the SOTU until the shutdown is over.
Nancy is NOT going to cave, she is NOT going to give him the money he asked for, so thew shutdown can last for the next TWO years.

There are some Freepers who love to condemn, put down, revile and slur fellow Freepers, usually for completely absurd reasons, even though the terms of membership explicitly say that we are not to insult or cast aspersions at each other.
My guess is they’re just miserable, foul-tempered people who love to condemn others for the sick feeling of triumph it gives them.
