If his story is true, then hats of to him.
BUT if his story is false, hes going to be in a world of sh*t.
Have at it, veterans!
I wonder if he knew Forrest Gump.
There were “Force Recon” Marinces, or ‘Recon Marines”, but, NEVER a “recon ranger”.
Maybe he meant to say, “Power Rangers”. They were real. ;)
There is an old running song heard here and there in the USMC that references “recon ranger”. But it isn’t commonly used anywhere else. And no, this guy was not in battalion recon or Force recon, ANGLICO, or anything else like that.
I doubt he was even an 0311.

He was a very busy guy. Attempted to disrupt Mass the next day.
You can be a Vietnam era Marine, as I was, serving from 1964-1967. Further, I served as a Canadian citizen; my actual service time was 6 years ... three active the remaining time inactive reserve. I’ve described myself as a Vietnam era Marine ... never serving in Vietnam ... but overseas on various European deployments. I do not consider myself a veteran ... that, in my opinion, is reserved for those who served in combat zones. But I’m very definitely a Vietnam era Marine.
He knows he was never in Nam and it will come out - notice he says “Vietnam Times” and then mentions the MOS title ... I’d wager he used to say he was over yonder but his “fame” has taken that lie away.
