Make of this what you will. I never served, but I know many of you have, and can maybe verify/dispute his claim.
If his story is true, then hats of to him.
BUT if his story is false, hes going to be in a world of sh*t.
Have at it, veterans!

A Marine who’s also a recon Ranger.Neat trick since Rangers are all Army personal.

It appears that the author is correct.
Even the Washington Compost is correcting this "mistake".

If he’s truly a combat veteran, then absolutely hats off to him for his service. But that doesn’t make everything he does right.
If he’s lying about his service, may God have mercy on him, because true veterans will have none. Stolen valor is a serious thing.

On one level it doesn’t really matter if this guy’s story checks out or not. The kid literally did nothing wrong at all. Where there is value in Nathan Phillips (an Indian culturally appropriating an Anglo name) is in permanently attaching him to people like Rich Lowry, Jay Nordlinger, Ross Douthat, and the rest of the soy boys at National Review. He’s a leftwing nutcase, and they chose him. Let’s see how it works out for them.

"Nathan Phillips said he went on patrol as the point manthe first marine in the column."
My brother enlisted in the U.S. Army. Ended up in the 25th Infantry Division in Cu Chi, Vietnam from '66-67. He was at times point man when they went on patrol. When I learned later what this entailed, I figured that it was something he'd have volunteered for. Growing up, all he had ever wanted to be was a soldier. Thankfully he made it back in one piece, but he died at the young age of 51.

Isn’t claiming to be an ex military member a violation of the law? If so, arrest this guy and put his ass behind bars.

While questioning his Vietnam veteran bona fides, I wonder about his Native American bona fides. Having grown up next to an Indian reservation (Shoshone-Bannock), Phillips is the first balding Native American I have ever seen.

I have a Nephew who was let out of the Army before his enlistment expired. He has been in trouble a lot since. He claims he got an honorable discharge.
His Grandpa my Father, asked to see his discharge papers but Teddy never showed it. I think we all knew it was probably drugs and no reason to embarrass him.
Still Daddy really was a combat veteran of WWII. He seems to be hard nosed about those who lie about their service. I guess he has that right.

My brother retired as a Force Recon Marine. I don’t think or know if they ever called themselves Recon Rangers. I kind of doubt it.

Nothing will happen to him, he is a symbol, a cry for victim-hood, kind of hands up dont shoot narrative, it fits a desired narrative, truth is not necessary.
