House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Blocks President Trump Entry into Capitol Building – Confirms State of Union Speech Cancellation…
It looks like Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi has no intention of allowing the House chamber to be used for a State of the Union address.
Speaker Pelosi has informed the House Sergeant at Arms that no executive branch official will be permitted entry into the Capitol building.
Earlier Fox News reported Pelosi cancelled a walkthrough last week, and a second request for reconsideration from the White House is expected to meet the same fate. The House Speaker controls who is, and who is not, permitted entry to the House floor. Until Speaker Pelosi calls for a vote to support a joint session of congress, the President cannot enter the chamber.

Congress is protected by Capitol Police, not Secret Service. Capitol Police are under the exclusive control of Congress (not the President) and have jurisdiction anywhere a Congressman goes.

Not a crisis. The HoR grants or denies permission for the President to enter and address the assembled body.
A written or verbal SOTU given from time to time is the only specification.
She can do this, her perogative. Trump can simply submit a written SOTU to the assholes and then set up a mass rally to present it directly to the people, daring the media to NOT cover it.

She doesn't have the authority to block him from the entire capitol building. O'Connell can invite him to the Senate chamber. It's rare to see this inconsistency or mistake by Sundance.

What’s new is that Pelosi has blocked WH staff from walkthrough of the House floor. So basically Pelosi is still in mode of not having Trump speak by blocking WH officials from surveying Congress for the speech
He should also do a follow up address immediately after the demonrats response.

I cannot see Trump taking this from her. He gave her the lady treatment, as anyone would do for a woman... and when they find out she is not a woman.. it’s all hells bells loose.

I think you were more or less correct that the president lacks the power to call for adjournment. That power is conditional on disagreement between the House and the Senate as to time of adjournment, and there is no hint of any such disagreement.

Re: State of the Union
Dear Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader McConnell:
The state of the Union is generally quite good. Notably, the economy is humming along quite nicely, with low unemployment and rising pay. Regarding foreign trade problems, I’m almost done putting China down for the count, and Mexico, Canada, Japan and the Europeans have already capitulated...and the shithole countries everywhere else don’t matter.
Regarding foreign and defense policy, we’ve considerably strengthened our military, but that is an ongoing process. I’ve brought home troops not needed in combat, and I have thoroughly intimidated the Russians, Chinese, Iranians and North Koreans into doing essentially nothing. Everyone else is either an ally, or a shithole country that means nothing.
Regarding domestic politics and immigration, I’ve started the process of vanquishing the big spenders and those who think that they represent citizens of Mexico and other shithole countries, rather than citizens of these great United States (yes, Nancy, that means YOU). Pretty soon, they will realize that they cannot out-think me, and will capitulate. Then I will have our American contractors build a great, big Wall to protect our people from illegal foreign invaders. Oh, and I’m looking forward to continuing to remaking the judiciary by nominating people who actually read and understand the Constitution.
That’s about it, have a nice year.
