Dear Mr. President,
You cannot make a deal with Satan or his pit of vipers in the congress.
Period.
If you cave on this you will be a one-term president.
The democrats will not come your way to accept your offer no matter what you offer. They sense weakness on your part and they're going to go for your jugular.
They couldn't care less about the out of work government workers. This is a sledge hammer they intend to use on you no matter what.
The only way you can win in this situation is to stand your ground. We the people have your back.
If the democrats refuse to budge, then you will have to secure the border any way you can without them. Use the military to beef up and secure the most vulnerable sections of the border.
Let the government stay shutdown until hell freezes over if necessary.
NO AMNESTY (comprehensive immigration reform)!!
If you let the democrats and RINOs badger you into approving amnesty, you WILL lose your base and you will NOT be reelected.
You have already saved the country several times over and you will go down in history as the greatest president ever, IF you do NOT cave on this!!
STAND YOUR GROUND AND MAKE THEM COME TO YOU!
Not talking about temporary migrant workers, talking about 900,000 DACA recipients and another 600,000 temporaries.
If you make continuous offers to the dims, without any counter from the dims, they will laugh at you. Why negotiate, the dims will rightly think, with someone who is dumb enough to negotiate with himself? It is a form of masturbation with no happy ending
Just watched “The Founder”, (the Ray Kroc/McDonald’s story). I see parallels to how Trump has been handling his job. First he trusted his partners, then had disputes over what was good to grow the business, then, finally took the bull by the horn. In the end he took everything from the McDonald brothers including their name. Chuck and Nancy are Dick and Mac McDonald. Beautiful to watch.
It's an amnesty.
If Trump does this it will encourage millions more to come, and cost him the election.
So you are saying that Trump offering 3 years of work permits to DACAs is “amnesty” whereas 3 months for a migrant worker is not “amnesty”. Makes no sense. But rounding up and deporting a million DACAs? Logical! Anyway, the point is that they will get amnesty some day, and amnesty is stil a bargaining chip. Trump did not offer amnesty last night using the actual definition of amnesty.
I hope you are right. The S.E.S. is Deep State Central.
6. Prosecute all elected and appointed officials who flout Federal immigration law.
Prosecuting the dealer on the street does little if the kingpin is still running the mob.
Gavin Newsom openly violated the California State Constitution in 2004 on marriage. He knew what he was doing: That was the camel’s nose under the tent, and the beginning of expanding that tent for a national run.
His criminal conduct without penalty paved the way for the Federal government to mandate homoerotic so-called marriage, and mandate the persecution of Christians for their religious beliefs.
He may one day be president because he was allowed to abuse his power to break the law.
Arresting illegal aliens means little in the long run if the American citizens in office who enable them are allowed to do so openly and with impunity.
Amen to that.
No I am saying there is a big difference in giving some one who has been here for years a three year extension is not the same as someone who is admitted for a specific time period, of course it could all come out the same if no one cares like you seem not to.
Time was(Before Trump) on FreeRepublic when Freepers all recognized that any deal that let illegals stay was de facto amnesty. Times change.
It is probably because Freepers have come to realize that we will NEVER get these invaders OUT of our country, the most we can hope for at this time is to STOP THE BLEEDING!!! Trump is honestly TRYING to stop the bleeding EVERY other damn POTUS including Reagan has just left the borders WIDE OPEN the country be damned BIG DONORS RULE!!!
You mean before Obama? Obama chose to not enforce the deportation law. But he went a step further and granted the DACA "legal" status. Whether you like it or not, they were given legal* status (*subject to Supreme Court review and that court just snubbed Trump). So Trump tried to withdraw their legal status, and some judges stopped him. Trump obeys all juducial orders whether he likes them or not. They are still here legally
TIme was, freepers had a sense of perspective. They would look at a million or so DACA who have now registered and been granted work permits. They would look at another million every year that have no particular skills and are brought in without any regard to skills. They would ask themselves, what's the bigger problem. The DACA or the continuing importation of low/no skill people.
Yes, another amnesty will be bad, no question about it. This is not it, just a postponement, but it will happen. And the best we can do is trade some reforms and some permanent border security for that amnesty. We can easily be screwed again just like the last couple decades. But Trump knows that we were screwed and is trying to get as much reform and as much permanent security as possible.

Six weeks of the dems being unwilling to compromise will make them look bad. Then Trump can declare an emergency and build the wall.
Beat the dems over the head with it.
I disagree! I like Lucy's way of bargaining...

Twenty two Thousand unaccompanied minors crossed the border in December, care to guess how many schools that would require, how many teachers, how many are care takers? The cost we are willing to pass on to our citizens just astonishes me, does it bother you?
You might be shocked to learn what our government pays families to take one of these minors in, considering that the government allows you to deduct one tenth of what they are willing to pay for their care.
We stopped enforcing the immigration laws after Eisenhower and not even Reagan insisted on it, though he complained about it. There are tons of immigration laws on the books that could be used to slow down all these rebellious Governors and Mayors if only someone would tell the Justice Department to enforce them, I can't and neither can you.
I am old and used to disappointments from politicians but I don't intend to say oh well next time it will be better because there likely won't be a next time. Calling a cr@p deal good, is just weaseling out like all politicians seem to eventually do, I had higher expectations for this one.
I know who to ultimately blame; the voters who returned Ryan to the House and all the GOP Congressmen that re-elected him as Speaker and all the trench fighters who appeared on Hannity and Dobb's show to complain but never dared to call for a vote on the Speaker even after he announced he was retiring nearly a year before the election.
Then there is the issue of the stolen House seats and not one whimper from the GOPe, so we keep losing with little prospect of ever winning another election, oh well, better luck next time.
Yes on Reagan. The former Democrat had no excuse for making that apocalyptic deal with them.
