President Donald Trump said he will make a “major” announcement on Saturday about the border and ongoing government shutdown.

The president did not provide any further details on what he would be discussing on what is set to be the 28th day of the partial government shutdown.
The shutdown is the result of Congress’s inability to pass a short-term funding bill for the government that Trump would be willing to sign.
The president has insisted that such a bill contain more than $5 billion in funding to build a border wall. Democrats have refused to agree with that demand.

He would play right into the hands of those who call him a wannabe dictator, and he lets Congress off the hook for failing to do their damn jobs.
Who cares what they think. They will criticize Trump no matter what he does.
What does matter is keeping his base fired up.
What does the snowstorm have to do with it?
Media will have split screens showing snow while also showing trump. Watch. They’ll do everything they can to distract people.
His base isn’t going to be fired up if Trump signs a government funding bill with $0 for border security ... and they will be utterly demoralized when we get to 2020 and there is still $0 for border security and no wall.
All I care about is results, and Trump is delivering them. He promised a wall and well will in the end, get a ‘wall’. How it gets done isn’t important.

At this point, I do not believe that makes any difference at all. The outcome in the near term is going to end up being decided by whoever controls the police and military forces.
For now, that appears to be President Trump.

BTW, has anyone here paid attention beyond political red meat feeding, and taken a look at very recent Whitehouse Pres Orders DoD munitions ramp ups?
Why would it take four Presidential Memorandum to address (critical munitions shortages?) When the DoD (known) budget is over 700 BILLION fed debt notes?

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 303 of the Defense Production Act of 1950, as amended (the “Act”) (50 U.S.C. 4533), I hereby determine, pursuant to section 303(a)(5) of the Act, that the domestic production capability for energetic materials for munitions is essential to the national defense.
Without Presidential action under section 303 of the Act, United States industry cannot reasonably be expected to provide the production capability for energetic materials for munitions adequately and in a timely manner. Further, purchases, purchase commitments, or other action pursuant to section 303 of the Act are the most cost-effective, expedient, and practical alternative method for meeting the need for this critical capability.

Yes, but doesn’t the base want the wall built? We are the people that really care about this. If the wall doesn’t get built then he had a big problem with his base. The rest of it (beating the Dems) will be yesterday’s news on only a few weeks.
