House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday urged President Donald Trump in a letter to either reschedule his State of the Union address or deliver it in writing to Congress while the government continues to be partially shut down.

Wow. This is a gift from Pelosi to Trump.
It actually is NOT a good idea to have a rousing State of the Union speech to a Joint Session of Congress under these circumstances. It just seems inappropriate.
But Nancy did us all a favor by pointing this out, and she worded it in all in ways that make her look small and petty.
Trump can give his SOTU from the White House (and send a written copy to Congress). It can be a more somber affair even as it enumerates all of the successes of the past year. He doesn’t have to worry about getting booed or otherwise dissed by knucklehead Dems. MSNBC can go track down Romney for a snarky retort; but at least he’s not featured on TV sitting on his hands during some important part of Trump’s delivery.
It is stunning to me how consistently and resoundingly the Democrats keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory time after time after time.
