Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) panned House Republican leaders on Tuesday for their criticism over remarks he made in an interview with The New York Times last week regarding white supremacy.
[House Minority Leader Kevin] McCarthy [R-Calif.] decided hes going to believe The New York Times over Steve King, and thats a fact, King told conservative radio host Ed Martin on his show Tuesday.
King also went after House GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), saying she was wrong to call for his resignation in the wake of his comments.
And I will tell you, if theres support out there for Liz Cheney after this, you cant ever put her in the category of being a conservative again. She called for my resignation. Shes been here two years. What would give her the moral authority or the intellectual judgement to do something like that? he said.
King ignited a bipartisan firestorm after he asked The Times last week, White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization how did that language become offensive?
The Iowa Republican, a staunch opponent of illegal immigration, has a history of making controversial comments. He has argued that his comments last week were taken out of context, though he has not accused The Times of misquoting him, he noted Tuesday.
House Republicans have removed King from his positions on the House Judiciary, Agriculture and Small Business committees. The House also overwhelmingly passed a resolution Tuesday condemning white nationalism and white supremacy by a 424-1 vote, with the lone dissenter saying it was not specific enough in its condemnation of King.
McCarthy, who oversaw the removal of King from his committee posts, said, There is no room for white supremacy, while Cheney said King should find another line of work.
Reps. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) and Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) have both introduced resolutions to censure King for his remarks.
The Iowa Republican told Martin on Tuesday that hes at peace with the comments.
I am at peace with my soul with this and I am confident that what I have done has been true and right and just and honest, he said. Im very comfortable standing before God and answering for all of this.
Though leaders in both parties and chambers of Congress have called on King to resign, the nine-term congressman suggested this week he has no intention of doing so.
I will continue to point out the truth and work with all the vigor that I have to represent 4th District Iowans for at least the next two years, King said Monday.
That’s all the media is and huge % of indies are low info voters who at *best* read headlines and at worst hear anecdotes from their friends.
The GOP knows the Dims will protect their own unless it’s completely egregious (Al Franken photo evidence), yet they do this to one of theirs.
Why is the pearl clutching always unilateral?

A quote out of context is worse than a misquote.
He’s white and therefore racist by default
The article deliberately leaves out his explanation so it appears he is defending white nationalism. He is doing no such thing.
This is a violation of the Constitution.
The 1st amendment makes it illegal for the government to punish us for things we say.
I like Russians. I married one. My four children are half-Russian.
The Russians are our natural allies. If people would just stop and pay attention, they'd understand this. The current hostility that we are supposed to hold against Russians is manufactured.
Yup.
Steve Kings problems began with Washington Examiners Williamson who could have cited the many times the New York Times has been cited for using misquotes when assembling his report on Senators; Cruz and Scott’s reaction of condemnation to the alleged racist remarks made by Iowa Congressman Steve King.
Williamson could have as well then also ask both US Senators Scott and Cruz Can the New York Times under those circumstances be trusted Asking if they considered that and include their reaction when making their statements in his report..
What King was denouncing was the assertions raised by the NYT interviewer using questions that reference common idoms used but are being attacked in socialist revisionist propaganda circles as racist. That technique method is similar to NYT use of questions about LGBT practices when seeking a reaction from by a religious figure.. Which have been manipulated and blown up to be prohibited expressions under guise of being politically incorrect ..
What Williamson did was because of his lazy journalism. Which is common practice unfortunately in too many so called conservative communication venues in visual, print, and talk radio. Was to support and continue to validate the “politically correct posture regurgitated by socialist revisionists.
History will be puzzled by our idiocy and posture all kinds of theories as to what caused it.
The Stupid Party indeed.
If you’re sending people to The Daily Stormer, you’re not an American, either.
Democrats still using the tried and true Alinsky tactic of pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Republicans go along with it every time. They think they are taking the high road. Theyre idiots.
Republicans rarely stick up for their own. They seem to believe if they let the Democrats take down their victim Democrats will leave them alone.
All it does is embolden Democrats to take down their next Republican victim.
They never learn.
And the never-Trumpers will be happy when Trump is gone. Republicans will then wonder, only too late, why they keep losing power.
Hint: they give power to Democrats.
Daily Stormer is satire and funny as hell. Dont get the vapors.
You have no idea what you are talking about!
Steve King is an American Patriot whose comments were taken out of context for the express purpose of bullying/shaming him out of the Congress!
It is the intent of the LIEberal establishment to rid the Congress and the Trump Administration of as many non- LIEberals as possible, by any means necessary!
I hope and pray that Rep. King stays and doesnt let the bastards grind him down!
And keeps shining the spotlight of truth on these scumbags!
Can you explain to me what he expected to gain by granting a 56 minute interview to the New York Times?
Of course the NYT misquoted King. The GOPe probably asked them to. The big question is: WHY DO ANY CONSERVATIVES EVER TALK TO THE NY TIMES??? It’s just not worth it.
