A report in British media is claiming that the Royal Air Force, which saved the country from Nazi invasion in 1940, is not ready for full-on combat should another war break out in Europe.
The Daily Mirror reports that one-third of British RAF planes were either in storage or in maintenance as the air service celebrated its 100th year in existence.
Quoting the Defense Ministry, the news site said that aircraft have been mothballed and taken out of front-line service for periods of time because they need repairs and upgrades.

My mother was English, and lived through the Blitz in WWII. She said much the same thing, that England lost almost an entire generation of able-bodied fighting men in WWI, so that when war was declared in 1939 there was a good deal of concern about whether Britain would be able to win. She said that all began to change when Churchill took over. She always said that when Churchill took over there was a noticeable change in the national character.
Oh, for the Brits of WW2 character! Ditto for us!
That’s true. Stalin was schizo when it came to Germany: He knew in 1939 that Germany would turn against the Soviet Union, so he jumped at the opportunity to sign the Russo-German Non-Aggression Pact just days before Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. He even bolstered his forces on his western border. Then, inexplicably, he convinced himself that Hitler would NOT invade the Soviet Union until at least 1943, if at all.

Hitler was delusional. My mother was English, and went through the Blitz, etc. She said that the people ADORED Churchill.

One third not ready? That is better than the way Obama left our planes. Only half were ready for prime time.
Oh, they adored him once the bombs started falling....Where were they in the 1930s, when they practically tried to run Churchill out of Parliament?
