Former MLB closer and 1996 World Series MVP John Wetteland was arrested Monday on a child sex abuse charge, authorities said.
Wetteland, 52, is accused of continually sexually abusing a child under the age of 14, the Dallas Morning-News reported, citing Denton County Jail records. He posted a $25,000 bond and was released from the jail the same day he was arrested.
Wetteland, who was the 1996 World Series MVP for the New York Yankees and remains the Texas Rangers all-time leader in saves, retired after the 2000 season and was inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame in 2005, according to the Dallas Morning-News. In 12 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Montreal Expos, Yankees and Rangers, he racked up 330 saves with a 2.93 ERA.

I’m saddened by this.
Can we subpeona that hat of his?
For non-Yankees fans to understand how incredible he was for the Yankees, his set-up man was Mariano Rivera. That’s like having the Rolling Stones as your opening act.

And NONE OF THAT excuses what he did to a child!!!!!!!

Ditto——from a Red Sox fan.
.
Let’s at least give him a fair trial before shoving him feet first into a wood chipper.
I wonder if his defense attorney will mention his record as a pitcher?
I mean that makes it all better, right?
1) Is he getting a divorce?
2) Has he angered the Deep State or its organs in any way?
If the answers to 1) and 2) are definitively no, then you can work on forming the usual lynch mob.
I couldn’t give two $#!+$ about his talent for throwing a ball.
Do you object to giving a fair trial to those accused of crimes in general, or is it only sex crimes committed against children?
Of course I want him to get a fair trial. But I also want the victim to get a fair hearing in which the accused’s celebrity status is not weighed as evidence.
And NONE OF THAT excuses what he did to a child
That looks a lot like you've already "found him guilty", based on a Big Media publication. Therefore, I suggested a fair trial ...
I'm wonder what the Duke University lacrosse team members might think of the situation.
It is alleged victim and there’s no evidence as of yet.
The prudent course is to believe NOTHING you see or hear from the national media pending corroboration from more trusted sources. Like Rush or Hannity, maybe.
I remember when he was with Rangers, he always came off as kind of an odd duck.
