LOS ANGELES (AP) A skeleton crew of substitutes welcomed students to Los Angeles schools Monday as tens of thousands of teachers walked off the job for the first time in three decades, but parents wondered how much their kids were learning in the nations second-largest school district.

The kids were not learning before the strike either.
Heh, as if they learned before the strike.
It’s Lost Angeles, Mexifornia, for Pete’s sake.
Oh, forgot about the H-wood type children.
Going to private schools, or to very exclusive pubic...er...public schools.
Were they learning with the teachers in the classroom?
Cue the thinking dinosaur meme.
I saw these idiot teachers rally this morning IN THE HEAVY RAIN in front of city hall. Im sure the cops were pissed not only handling traffic but getting wet for these bozos..
What the Atrophied Press should ask is: are you kids learning without a strike and what are they being taught? AP knows exactly what they are leaning—leftist crap.
They may be even learning more without Comrade Teachers to interfere with their learning.
Doesn’t matter - they never were learning anything before.
“Rarely is the question asked,
is our children learning?”

You know they’re having this strike for the chiiildren. Screw those teachers. If I were a kid there I would want them to stay on strike forever.
80% english learners
50% dropout rate
of the Graduates,80% can NOT read, write or count above the 4thgrade level!!
Why are they going on strike again??
That premise assumes they were learning anything before the strike.

They may not be learning to hate America as quickly - so yes, their America-hating parents will have an issue.
Yes good question how much were they learning before?
I am not familiar with the finances of the LA unified School district. But, people often don’t understand that these school districts are discrete business entities. The district has income sources, which can’t just magically increase because teachers want more. They have finite sources of revenue to deal with. There may also be contractual obligations already in place to contribute to the teacher’s pension funds.
They can’t just increase tax revenue to give in to the teachers.
They want more than money.
They want Charter Schools closed and smaller Class sizes.
They want to run the District, a District filled with Anchor Babies who may or may not speak English.
All it took was post 2 to ask the obvious qiuestion.
Los Angeles has the most corrupt teacher’s union.

A new analysis of the nation’s public schools, by personal finance site WalletHub, ranks California’s system among the worst. ...
The study was based on 17 metrics, including student-to-teacher ratio, dropout rates and average SAT and ACT scores. Compared with the other 49 states and the District of Columbia, California ranked 47th in reading test scores, 46th in math test scores and dead last in student-teacher ratios.
We were 43rd for our high number of disciplinary incidents per 100,000 students, 35th for SAT scores and 33rd for our dropout rate.
I don’t know, those folks in Chicago are pretty corrupt also.
They could probably give the people in La-La Land a run for their money.
