Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Monday denounced GOP leaders' move to remove him from all committee assignments, calling it a "political decision that ignores the truth."
[House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthys (R-Calif.)] decision to remove me from committees is a political decision that ignores the truth," King said in a statement shortly after McCarthy told reporters that the Iowa congressman would not receive any committee assignments in the new Congress.
King was previously a member of the House Judiciary, Agriculture and Small Business committees. He had also served as chairman of a House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice in the last Congress.
The decision to strip him of those assignments came just days after King questioned why terms such as "white nationalist" and "white supremacist" were offensive in an interview with The New York Times.
"White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization how did that language become offensive? King asked in the interview, which was published last Thursday.
The comments generated criticism from Democratic and Republican lawmakers, with McCarthy saying over the weekend that action would be taken in response.
King said that his comments have been "completely mischaracterized."
"When I used the word THAT it was in reference ONLY to Western Civilization and NOT to any previously stated evil ideology ALL of which I have denounced," King said. "My record as a vocal advocate for Western Civilization is nearly as full as my record in defense of Freedom of Speech."
He added that he "ultimately" told McCarthy: "You have to do what you have to do and I will do what I have to do."
Two Democratic lawmakers on Monday introduced resolutions to formally censure King over his statements. House Democrats are expected to place a resolution to formally rebuke him that was introduced by Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.) on the floor for a vote on Tuesday.
Tempest in a teapot. There is nothing whatsoever wrong about King’s comment listed above. Unless you can’t read or can’t comprehend the English language or you are a hateful democrat or a spineless neutered GOPe RINO (Mitt). Or you just hate “Western Civilization” because you equate it to white people and you believe the democrat slander that white is bad so consequently you hate white people (not in a racist way, of course).
The deep state is using King here to keep blacks in the democrat party and to divide the Trump vote.
He simply said he's white, and he believes in nationalism and Western Civilization, and why is this bad, and the entire media and gutless RINOs had collective heart attacks.
My view too. Hopefully King has enough on McCarthy to cause him some pain.
I loved how he said terrorists would celebrate when Obama won and he didn't back down.
This is precisely what they were going for in interviewing him and he gave them exactly what they wanted - how could he not know that? And his sentence structure was awkward to give them the perfect means for the smear...it was dangerous enough even if his delivery was perfect to even discuss such a topic as it could have been taken out of context anyway by the NYT - and with that kind of awkward wording where he jumps from one idea to another it's game over.
Look at how volatile this story is. Its a deep state move in their game called Kill America.
And yet a-o-c and the Detroit Imam lover can say anything they wish without threat of censure. Goodness, how so very curious!

Maybe King is a sincere patriot. Who knows. He tried to kill Trumps nomination in 2016.
Not even a Representative of the House has freedom of speech.
WHY people with targets on their backs (Conservative Republicans) keep talking to the media is beyond comprehension.
It's like Lucy with the football. Do they believe this time the media will be fair?
Just say no. Starve the beast.
Steve King is this weeks chosen one.
While agreeing to be interviewed by the New York Times is a foolish move.
Calling McCarthy an idiot is being too generous to the little fascist word policeman.
Just because a word describes a nasty and disagreeable historical event or group doesn’t mean its offensive.
We talk about leftist progressiveism all the time they did horrible things to entire populations.
My primary reaction to this story is how the terms “white nationalist” and “white nationalism” are actually two terms which were used very infrequently in the USA in the past, but which the left has taken to new heights for the purpose of slurring Americans who believe is US sovereignty and enforcement of immigration laws.
Of course, McCarthy and other Rinos suffered predictable cases of the vapors and fainting spells when complaints were made by the usual suspects on the left. Some have been gunning for Steve King for a few years.
King is correct - these terms need to be de-weaponized. The usual tiresome repub circular firing squad won’t accomplish that.
Ha, good interview Steve, enjoying your fifteen minutes?
Scratch a racist, find an idiot.
A POS Muslim congress critter called the President a Motherf-er and crickets from the GOPe dopes.
NY Times and the reporter of that article are targeting powerful Republicans like King.... Part of the media/Dem plan to weaken Trumps administration and those who support him.
Times is one of the leading propaganda machines for the left....which includes that reporter who has been with the Times since 1994 , he covers Pres. elections extensively.
McCarthy was never publicly for The Wall until around the 2018 House Election when he pretended to be heavily pushing a Wall Bill that was never going to pass in the [60 vote, so loved by Ditch] Senate.
Total hypocritical Kabuki.
“King will be gone from Congress by Friday”
You maybe right...This crap is getting out of control. There’s an all out war on white males in this country and TBH I’m getting sick of it.
