President Trump is digging in his heels on his demand for a border wall, telling aides and allies that he believes he is winning the battle for public support.
Over the last 24 hours, Trump has privately touted a Washington Post-ABC News poll indicating that public support for a border wall has increased to 42% from 34% last year, a source familiar with his comments told CNN.

Trump would negotiate.
If they offered hi $4 billion instead of 45.7 billion, he would take it. my opinion.
But but... he will ruin any chances that the Democrats will work with him. And he will risk totally destroying his relationship with the mainstream media. And worst of all, they might even consider impeachment!
Oh wait....
Go ask a street cop how easy it is to get cooperation from a bad guy after you go out of your way to convince him that he has nothing to lose.

He had and has a classic centrist American vision, one which asserts the wisdom of being able to choose who will immigrate.
Nope. This is time to break them. This 5.7 is only 20% of what they were ready to do a year ago.

My local “conservative” talk show host wants to take his producer to DC and “talk sense into both of them”.
I think he’s being allowed on the air to bash “both sides”.

MAYBE 10% of the electorate sees the shutdown as a big issue.
While the border wall is the great question of the day, and everyone thinks it’s important one way or another. It’s crystallized, binary and symbolic of two different world views.
Let’s hope POTUS stays the course, because if he does he will prevail.

The next step will be to stop all immigration so the country can catch its breath and assimilate what we have now. At least for 20 - 30 years.

We are counting on our great president to keep the government shut down until the wall construction begins. Do not believe a word that the Democrats say as they try to weasel their way to an agreement.
President Reagan was lied to when he agreed to a 3 million illegal alien amnesty deal, but never got the border security Democrats promised. Chuck and Nancy certainly are not more trustworthy...only now there are 20-25 million illegal aliens breaking our laws.
