Former GOP Rep. Ryan Costello (Pa.) is signing on to work for a group pushing a business-backed proposal to fight climate change with a carbon tax.
Costello, less than a week out of the House, announced Monday in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece that hes the new managing director of Americans for Carbon Dividends. The group is the advocacy affiliate of the Climate Leadership Council, pushing a plan by former GOP Secretaries of State James Baker and George Shultz to tax carbon dioxide emissions and return the money to individuals and families on a quarterly basis.
I understand the legislative process. I have run many a political campaign, he said. Dealing with elected officials across the country, I think, will be seamless for me to do. Creating issue advocacy campaigns, identifying the types of members that might be open to this, and frankly, working on the text.
His opinion piece squarely targets Republicans in Congress and pushes them to endorse a comprehensive climate policy.
For Republicans to be the party of the future, we need a plan to protect the future, he wrote. With the early impacts of climate change plain for all to see, it is high time for the Grand Old Party to embrace its proud historical legacy of environmental conservation by proposing market-based and forward-looking climate solutions of our own.
ETC...
Baker is the one responsible for the corrupting of some of Reagan’s programs. He beat out the Meese faction re dominance in planning for Pres. Reagan.
A nasty man too. And Schultz. Wouldn’t trust him either. Too much on his cowardice re US foreign policy.
OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the suns planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?
Most are already heavily invested in the scam and want to revive it because they never reached the top of the Ponzi scheme and cashed out
I love your post
They aren’t interested in dealing with the issue, its about using the notion of “climate change” to raise taxes.
Its sort of like talking about how dangerous tobacco is not so you can ban it, but so you can tax it.
What is with all the corporate scum supporting all these Global Warming (TM) initiatives?
Its another social transfer tax. In his commentary he says that the majority of American families will get more in carbon dividends than they pay.
He fails to mention how higher prices will surpass the dividend. There will be economic winners, losers, and a healthy cut for the governing class. Plus the added benefit of being able to carve out a exceptions to the tax, impose heavier taxes, etc. in exchange for votes and campaign cash.
Uniparty Republican wants to help pass a new tax. Shocking.
> Americans for Carbon Dividends
Taxes are now dividends?
A certain segment of the Republican Party has always been willing to hop on-board with ANY Wall Street ponzi scheme. It’s allowed many of them to leave Congress as multi-millionaires.
It would have been far more honorable for him to just panhandle on a street corner in his old district.
