There's a certain woman here named Angela Davis. I don't know if you are familiar with her in this country, but in our country, literally for one whole year, we heard of nothing at all except about Angela Davis. There was only Angela Davis in the whole world and she was suffering. We had our ears stuffed with Angela Davis. Little children in school were told to sign petitions in defense of Angela Davis. Little boys and girls, 5 and 9 years old in schools, were asked to do this.
Well... they set her free. Although she didn't have a rough time in this country, she came to recuperate in Soviet resorts. Some Soviet dissidents — but more important, a group of Czech dissidents— addressed an appeal to her: ''Comrade Davis, you were in prison. You know how unpleasant it is to sit in prison, especially when you consider yourself innocent. You now have such authority. Could you help our Czech prisoners? Could you stand up for those persons in Czechoslovakia who are being persecuted by the state?" Angela Davis answered: "They deserve what they get. Let them remain in prison." That is the face of communism. That's the heart of communism for you."
We have another Angela Davis on our hands, except that she attained power the ‘legal’ way, but through misleading people, and now, she’s the most popular and visible democrat, and most sought after ‘celebrity’ congressperson in Washington.

When Davis was arrested, a Communist Dairy Farmer, RODGER MCAFEE, in California paid her bail. HE the bought himself one of the earl AR-15s on the market to protect himself.
Assholes like her remain in your mind, but you don’t necessarily remember why. It really shocked me to hear she was a professor at a university. I wouldn’t want that person anywhere near my kids.

His wife met the Hanoi front group the Viet Cong/NLF in Indonesia in 1975 while he was a member of the “Hanoi Lobby” anti-US Vietnam protest groups including the various “Mobes”.
He also was convicted and jail for raping his own daughter.
This is interesting because another key SCLC leader, Rev. Willie Barrows, Chicago, went to Hanoi with fellow Hanoinik Irma Zigas, in 1971 (See: The Loyal Opposition: Americans in North Vietnam, 1965-1972”, James W. Clinton).
She was also deeply involved in CPUSA fronts and causes, some of which were published in House Internal Security Committee hearings and reports.

Just found an old newspaper article about her, “Hill Democrats Call for Resignation of DNC Member”, 9/29/88, Washington Jewish Week, by Walter Ruby & Larry Cohler.

The USSR collapsed in 1991, think about that for a moment. That is now 28 years ago. If you are 40, you would have been 12 years old when it collapsed. Those of us that grew up and became adults shaped by the cold war and communism are getting older and older. More and more adults had their worldview shaped by post cold war events.
IMO, we screwed up in a lot of ways by not making Communism a pariah just like Fascism has become. For instance, we’ve made plenty of movies over the years depicting the Nazis as the bad guys (think all of the Raiders of the Lost Ark movies) or lampooned them (the Producers by Mel Brooks), but how many big movies are there that do this to the Soviets?
We also screwed up by not doing for them what we did for West Germany after WWII. In other words assist them into moving back into the communities of Nations and assist their fledgling Democracy. Instead, we spent money on kicking them while they were down. Can you imagine if we had a strong democratic ally in Russia right now who was a true ally instead of the tinpot dictator, Putin we have to deal with what that would be like?
