Mexicans scramble for gasoline as stations run dry
Washington Post ^ | 01/06/2018 | Amy Guthrie

Mexicans are scrambling for gasoline amid long lines at gas stations and widespread shortages prompted by a change in distribution methods aimed at stemming fuel theft.

State oil company Petroleos Mexicanos said the use of more secure transportation methods has resulted in delays for fuel delivery to gas stations in the states of Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacan, Mexico and Queretaro. It is urging consumers not to panic or hoard gasoline, promising that supply will soon stabilize.

Pemex is trying to stem billions of dollars in losses from criminal gangs that tap pipelines to steal gasoline by instead transporting the fuel via truck. Analysts say truck transport is more expensive, and less efficient.

Analysts say truck transport is more expensive, and less efficient.

And easier and safer to highjack than by tapping a high pressure pipeline.

Sounds like a Third World Narco State where corruption is rampant and chaos prevails. Sounds like we need a border wall.

Translation: the corrupt govt own oil company is raising price by limiting supply in their attempt to combat what low oil prices would do to their bottom line.

Sounds like Nigeria, where they lose about a quarter-million barrels of oil a day to theft and vandalism. It’s part of why all the Western oil companies are getting out of there.

Mexico is far wealthier and more advanced than Nigeria and shouldn’t be having these problems.

It looks like the democrats’ new 15,000 illegal alien convoy is going to have a problem reaching the U.S. border.

Stop the transporting of invaders up to our border. That would save some fuel.

Leave it to Mexico to make a bad problem worse. Trump is right, when he says “Mexico doesn’t send us it’s greatest and brightest.” Maybe because they don’t have any of either. Maybe they should try burying their pipelines and guarding their pumping stations.

That’s my problem with the wall, its in entirely the wrong place. Between Texas and Brazil there are nothing but enemy, narco-terrorist, or CIA puppet front states. Annex everything up to the far side of the canal, build the wall there, and bus everyone other than the odd organic chemist or other valuable to Venezuela. It will be much cheaper and a lot less blood loss in the long run.

It’s long past time Mexico eliminated it’s gangs. Of course, that’s hard to do when the gangs run Mexico.
