18 month old Richie needs your prayers

Prayer Warriors have seen this but we need everyone to offer prayers for Richie.

Picture a few months old but the only one I have available.

First a little history .... The last week of November, Richie received several vaccines which included the flu vaccine.

On December 2nd, he was hospitalized with paralysis of his arms and legs. He was put on a respirator and the outlook was bleak. I posted a note on FB asking for prayers from family and friends.

Richie is the grandson of a cousin who is more like a little brother than a cousin.

Really made my day! He seemed to be having a good time. Was he able to eat some of his cake? The icing is my favorite!

He doesn’t eat solid food. He does eat a little pureed food but since he was interested in the cake, Brian decided that he should taste it.

I think he enjoyed it but he didn’t want any more. He loved the new book and really paid attention when Brian read it to him.

I keep praying for a miracle but I consider Richie a miracle. He is such a precious little boy and he seemed to know that that day was special.

Thank you for remembering his birthday. Brian was impressed with all the cards. I think he got about 25.

How is dear little Richie doing? Any changes in him physically? I pray for him each night and that the Good Lord will lead and guide the doctors caring for this precious little boy.

WOW ... I din't realizze how long since I posted an update on Richie.
I've had a couple of issues and get side-tracked. :(
Sorry.

Not many changes in Richie's daily routine. BUT ....
He always has a smile for us. He seems to be growing like that famous weed.



He is still on the ventilator but no longer needs an oxygen supplement.
He is getting enough oxygen from his surroundings.
He still eats very little except from the peg tube.
He does love his IPad and his cartoons.
He has both physical and speech therapy 2 or 3 times a week.
Not sure how much good it is doing.
He still 'talks'. Wish we knew what he was talking about. :)



Richie is still sleeping better during the day than at night.
Since Brian is the 24/7 caregiver, he is exhausted.
He does not trust anyone else with Richie's care.

I pray that Richie will get his days and nights straightened out soon.
Last week, Richie went to sleep at 5:00am. Brian got about 3 hours sleep.

As you offer prayers for Richie, please offer a prayer for Brian.
Grampa is concerned that Brian is going to make himself sick.

Richie is a Blessing to our Family. Thank you for keeping him in your prayers.

Gosh, that is an appealing child. I will bow my head and pray sincerely for both Richie and his dear father Brian.

There is nothing greater than a father’s heart. But he needs to take a break. Accepting help can be a life-saver, literally.
