A woman who has been comatose for at least a decade gave birth in a Phoenix nursing facility Dec. 29, sparking a police investigation into possible sexual abuse.
Her caretakers had no idea the woman was pregnant “until she was pretty much giving birth,” a source familiar with the situation told CBS 5.
“From what I’ve been told she was moaning. And they didn’t know what was wrong with her,” the source told CBS 5.
The baby boy is healthy, but the mother remains in a vegetative state caused by a near-drowning incident years ago. The patient had around the clock care and many staff members at Hacienda HealthCare where she lives could have entered her room alone.
Hacienda HealthCare has already instituted a new policy so that male caretakers are never alone in a room with a female patient, the source told CBS 5.
The health care facility issued the following statement in light of the incident:

The woman was likely sexually assaulted in the spring or summer of 2018.

Maybe they should use "probable." Or (just goi g out on a limb here's) "certain."

When a female body is in stress of some sort, it can stop periods. That is probably what happened to her.

So the staff at this facility is raping her - unaware she’s missing periods and pregnant.
I had a seizure once because of stress. Never stopped my period though.

As far as I know, if a woman isn’t having periods, she’s unable to conceive a child. So she probably was having them. As others have posted, DNA swabs all around for ANYONE who had access to her. Just hope a loving home is found for the baby!
I said stress can stop periods. It is usually hormonal.
The story doesn’t talk about how big she is. Might be many hundreds of pounds.
How could they not know? Even in a long term care facility a doctor or a NP comes in at least once a week for rounds. Abdominal sounds are checked regularly and especially if a patient’s belly looks distended. With this you would hear a fetal heartbeat at some point. You would also do an US to check for ascites as that would be a probable reason for stomach distension.
There was an episode of Law and Order where a rich disabled man was having his doctor impregnate women in comas so he could abort the child and collect their stem cells (being a better genetic match) .Even though it was just a show, you have to wonder if this has ever gone on?
