Sen. David Perdue: Mitt Romney makes the same mistake that cost him the White House
Washington Post ^ | Jan 5 2019 | David Perdue

Posted on 01/05/2019 7:10:51 AM PST by rintintin

n a recent op-ed for The Post, “The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump’s character falls short,” Mitt Romney made the same mistake that many Republicans did in 2012 — a mistake that cost him the White House.

With his attempted character assassination of the president, a fellow Republican, Romney put self-interest ahead of the larger national interest: conservative Republican governance. The op-ed brought to mind 2012, when many Republicans chose to divide the party by continually bashing each other. Romney eventually discovered that many discouraged GOP voters decided to stay home on Election Day.

“I don’t see this guy being the new McCain or Flake. He’s damaged goods dropping from a prez failed election to a Jr Senator.”

He wants to be the next Flake/McCainal and be a real PIA to our president with the Sunday tv/Fake news shows praising him as a the new maverick.

Best BOL of the day. Thanks for this!:

Joseph Smith was shot dead in a gun fight attempting to escape out the back window of a jail because the people of the town were coming to lynch him after he had been plying his skills as a conman and swindling the locals. If you can't figure out this guy was a bad dude you might just be a moron - err mormon.

Mitch Romney seems to be cut from the same cloth.

“Funny...I also hear that Romney hates being called the “Jr. Senator” from Utah. Let’s hope that continues...”

Since it is his first term he should be called the Freshman Senator from Utah. Bet that would trigger his Magic Underwear wearing butt.

#NeverTrumptards will be what they are. Romney had a great opportunity and wasted it. It must be calculated or he is a narcissistic, jealous and vindictive imbecile no different than Clinton.

Open borders loony Jeff Flake and Mitt Romney (Twin Trump Backstabbers) have lowered my opinion of Mormons. Mormons were rock solid conservative Republicans just a few decades ago. Now it is an open borders church. Due to Mormon proselytizing you can find reps from every ethnic group on earth in Utah.

You have some real obscure language to translate? 99% of the time there is someone in Salt Lake City who can translate.

That I would pay to see.....Mitt going anal.

Being called the Freshman Senator from Utah would trigger Mitt's Magic Underwear-wearing butt.

just like McCain, the Dems will use Mitt to play with and then draw him into their trap. Democrats only have one playbook.I will not care he deserves the future misery the Democrats are going to cause his family.

Initially I was opposed to David Perdue when he ran for senator. I voted for someone else in the primary and then reluctantly voted for him in the general election. He has pleasantly surprised me by mostly voting the right way and supporting Trump.

I agree. David Perdue has exceeded all expectations so far. As a successful businessman noted for turning around failing companies, Senator Perdue has a mindset and approach to solving problems that is similar to President Trump's. Perdue is a team player who understands and has remained focused on the president's strategic objectives. We need more like him.

I for one do not think President Trump has a terrible character. You cannot make the kind of money building things if you have a terrible character, nobody will trust you. Yes, it is true that in his younger years, he had some marital problems but so do a lot of people. I think on judgment day Pres. Trump will be in a whole lot better shape than Mittens, and his cult of deceivers.

Great, great piece.

And Mittens gets it precisely—he is criminally compromised and has motivation to stop Trump at all cost.

Write it down unless there are major changes in the GOP Romney or a clone will be trotted out for president when Trump leaves the scene. It will result in a blood bath at the polls for the GOP.
