“Many people under 40k dont’ pay anything, so perhaps I could support raising their taxes. “

Most families under $50k pay squat.

Singles under $35k pay the equivalent of nothing.

The vast majority of income taxes are paid by those between $75k and $200k. At least 90%.

She is a typical democrat. On her first day, she suggests taxing people at 70%, Wow!

No one paid rates that high. She doesn’t understand that back then there were a lot of things that could be written off and most of those are gone.

This woman is so clueless it’s unreal.

agreed, so that’s why I find it odd that the media doesn’t question her on her intentions to make people earning under 40k, the “poor”, to start paying taxes. Maybe the media will whisper that in her ear after the cameras are off and help her get her story right.

There you go! Now I expect De Niro, Striesand and the rest of the Hollywood libs to obey and willingly hand over big $$. Very few there are worth less than 10 million. Hundreds more likely. She should set up an office to take in the voluntary payments.

So Sandy, do you mean to tax their incomes?

Because, Sandy, the super wealthy purposefully do NOT have incomes.

Squirrels are so stupid!

It has been tried for example in England. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_taxation_in_the_United_Kingdom Led to a lot of business, brain, and wealth fleeing. They are arguably still have not fully recovered even decades later.

Of course, for those of us who fondly remember the 1950’s as the halcyon days of American conservatism and exceptionalism, the 1954 tax rate for those making $200K was 91%. In today’s inflated world, that would be $1.8M.

Super-rich Pelosi and Feinstein (among many other Democrats) may not like that idea.

Patriots need to get their rich friends, PDJT included, up to speed on the following so that they can help put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes.

Pre-FDR era, state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices had clarified that Congress is prohibited from appropriating taxes for anything that it cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States."—Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

And to make stopping unconstitutional federal taxes permanent, patriots also need to support PDJT in leading the states to repeal the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments.

Also regarding the fed’s Section 8-limited powers, patriots need to get institutionally indoctrinated Rep. Acasio-Cortez up to speed with the reality that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to police the environment.

”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Ocasio-Cortez is clueless that she is trying to unconstitutionally expand the already unconstitutionally big federal government’s powers.

Don’t forget the Social Security tax and the Medicare tax. That will push you to near 90%.
