Every year, I look for important themes in sustainability that will have lasting impact on society, from glaring evidence of global megatrends to inspiring stories of corporate action. The year 2018 brought extreme change in weather and environmental ecosystems, in political winds and power, and in the expectations of business. It also brought incredible clarity about the scale of our challenges and opportunities.
So lets start with the big picture before moving to some corporate success stories. The worlds scientists sound a final alarm on climate
We have about 12 years left. Thats the clear message from a monumental study from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). To avoid some of the most devastating impacts of climate change, the world must slash carbon emissions by 45% by 2030, and completely decarbonize by 2050 (while, in the meantime, emissions are still rising).

Twelve years? Can I have this guy’s stuff in 13?
The Al Gore Countdown Clock is being reset...
That fictional clock was frozen at two minutes before midnight for years. People finally just stopped waiting for the end of all things Civilized. Now someone wants to sell us a new Doomsday Watch Clock.
In 2 billion years the sun will expand and cook the Earth. Then it will be time to worry about Global warming
.
chicken little
If we implement half of the measures these people want, will we have 24 more years, or just 6, or 18? I’m just trying to figure out how it all works. Yes, sarcasm.
How many times throughout history has some lunatic predicted we have 10-12 years left on the planet?
These nut bags really need new material to spread fear with.
HBR has lost its damn mind, giving this guy a platform.
The sun could burp just slightly and cook us all way before then.
Wow, this is not only poppycock, it’s poorly reasoned, terribly written poppycock that only rehashes discredited ideas and “facts” and tries to pawn them off as fresh thinking.
Its over. East and west coast are under water. guam fliped over and capsize.
We are well past the dates of these things happening. And Im concerned
Because I live on the coast and never realized I was already underwater.
Well, perhaps we now can conclude why aoc(sandy ocasio) is pushing for 100% renewables by 2030?
How about 11 years, 23 days, 4 hours and 16 minutes?
When are we going to reach the “tipping point” so we can stop this hoax?
14 year ago Al Gore told we only had 10 years left. I am confused...
Apparently about 12 years.
There is nothing man can do, up to and including a full scale nuclear exchange, that cause the Earth to do what this moron is predicting in 12 years
All the leftist lies and bullshite in one article! Outstanding!!
Fantasticly boneheaded, based on wrong assumptions with a series of stunningly stupid conclusions.
I do not understand these loons.
That is part of their plan.
