That’s gratitude for ya, Romney style, after he gets Trump’s endorsement.

You knew it was coming. It was just a matter of when. McCain reincarnated.

It’s a rough world out there Mittens, and thank God we have a man, (maybe even sent from God), who is tough enough and rough enough to deal it.

I shudder to think what would become of us had you, or Hillary or the Jeb, or any number of you losers out there were in charge.

We all know that you were ordained, like Hillary, to be president some day, but both of failed, and now you’ve decided to play the Flake card right out of the gate.

To reassume our leadership in world politics, we must repair failings in our politics at home,” Romney charged. “That project begins, of course, with the highest office once again acting to inspire and unite us. It includes political parties promoting policies that strengthen us rather than promote tribalism by exploiting fear and resentment

And Mitt continues the GOP mistake of engaging in transactional politics rather than establishing an overall strategy.

Trump has done this. He has expressed and effectuated a clear vision - work for the best interest of Americans and stop trying to solve all the worlds little problems [not only can't we - we can't put enough force on the ground to enforce our view of the world - but further, the strategic over-reach into the middle-east has weakened the US, and our meddling around the world has merely stirred up pots and made things worse.]

As to the original charge, what divides us is not Trump but a very clear difference in views on America's role in the world. Being united, compromising, etc. means we expend blood, treasure, prestige and credibility on trying to fix some problem or other that is beyond our power to fix.

If you look at our successes over the years they have been "defensive" - we kept German imperialism from ruling Europe, we kept Russian 9imperialism from ruling Europe we resisted a NK takeover of South Korea, and we resisted a Sadam takeover of SA and Kuwaiti oil fields.

Notably these are all defensive - preserve the status quo in the face of an attempted hostile armed takeover - but otherwise we have been able to unilaterally impose our will on almost no one. The neo-cons and Yankee imperialists can't get that point.

As an aside, it will be interesting to see who Anne Coulter chooses to side with. If Romney, then consider her already crumbling career done.

Why do FR crypto-liberals/independents keep making these wild assumptions, especially those who aren’t registered GOP and can’t vote to nominate Romney in a Closed primary. Do you really think Romney is going to make a Nixonian comeback vs an incumbent? As we learned: McCain ultimately was evil but voting for him was Still better n the execrable purple lipped rat eared dogeater Likewise with Romney We can thank the highly prejudiced anti Mormon Evangelicals to help Romney and this nation lose 4 crucial years in which deviancy and lawlessness reigned But Trump was and is exponentially better than both of those jamokes together These new insinuations are at once baseless and sinister Trump is racist? Anti-immigrant? Like Kasick’s nutty bleatings meant to fracture the base Having been the presidential nominee gives him some degree of gravitas and makes some dopes think, 🤔 maybe he’s got something there Trump is being way too nice so far and should look into some of Romney’s business dealings that left people out of a job

Heck, I sure don't think he could or will win a nomination (and assume that "FR crypto-liberals/independents" comment wasn't aimed at me) but that isn't really the point.

The question is Does Romney think so?

The Presidential Dream dies hard in some. And running for President as a sitting Senator is not unheard of, is it?

I could certainly see his megalomania take root as the election nears, and his fantasy that he is "the only one who can save the Republican party from sure defeat" rises to the top of his consciousness.

And believe you me, the Left and GOPe will 100% stoke that small burning ember in Romney with every little fan of paper they have. They will make Romney sound like the ONLY MAN WHO CAN SAVE AMERICA FROM FOUR MORE YEARS OF TRUMP, and will make Romney sound like a saint.

And Romney would lap that up like a man in a desert drinking muddy water from a hoof print. They will shower him with adulation that would make Obama blush, if that were indeed possible.

And so, the beatification by Romney by the Left would proceed unabated, at least until Romney were to win the nomination...

And it isn't like we haven't seen the Left and Media engage in thatexercise before.

McConnell should tell Mitt no chairmanship if you divide the GOP with your bashing Trump.

All this is fodder for Dems quoting Mitt in ads.

no chairmanship

Mitt is a junior Senator and ineligible for any chairmanship. He needs to spend a couple of terms learning the ropes. Maybe in his third term he could aspire to a subcommittee.
