Full title: Knights of Columbus issue a pitch-perfect response to the anti-Catholic bigotry to Senators Hirono and Harris
Readers of American Thinker ( here, here, and here) are familiar with the appalling religious test for office that seems to be lurking in the questions submitted in writing to a nominee for a federal judgeship by Senators Hirono and Harris. In sum:
In a series of questions sent to Buescher, Hirono asked whether his membership in the Knights of Columbus would prevent him from hearing cases "fairly and impartially" and, if confirmed, whether he would end his membership in the organization.
"The Knights of Columbus has taken a number of extreme positions," Hirono said in the questionnaire. "For example, it was reportedly one of the top contributors to California's Proposition 8 campaign to ban same-sex marriage."
Harris meantime, in her questions to the nominee, called the Knights of Columbus "an all-male society" and asked the Nebraska lawyer if he was aware that the group was anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage when he joined[.]
The Knights have responded with dignity, honor, and (best of all) an open hand. Hat tip to Paul Mirengoff for bringing their open letter to my attention. I doubt that either senator is capable of shame, but if they were, they would surely be resolving to leave this bigotry behind in 2019.
Here is what the local Capitol District, Washington, D.C. chapter of the Knights wrote:

Meh.
A bit mealy-mouthed.
Would have been better to say that there is nothing extreme in opposing the murder of unborn children.
It’s always tricky to deal with people, like Harris and Hirono, who operate entirely in bad faith.
I’ve read through those a couple times - I’m sorry, where are the mistakes in proof-reading?
The letter is not the intellectual property of American Thinker and not covered by that restriction. The letter is posted across the web, including on FaceBook page of Bridge City Knights of Columbus - Council 3406, as well as powerline & many news organizations.
This is the permanent Communist position on everything, except that when actually in power "ostracized" becomes "killed."
There are many additional Democrat Senators who are CINOs (Catholic in name only) who agree with Harris and Hirono more than with the K of C.
Yes, sadly, there are.
Perhaps this anti-Christian bigotry test should be a new requirement, for ALL of them.
Dear Senators:
When I joined the K of C the concept of gay marriage did not exist and child sacrifice through abortion was opposed by half of America.
As for Prop 8, IT PASSED, so that majority makes clear the objection is NOT "extreme".
"Extreme" dear Senators, is your perception that anti-Catholic Bigotry is acceptable and that freedom of association is subject to your litmus tests.
Ironically, I got their intent.
“Catholic men.” Read it again if it didn’t drive home.
I literally LOL, but it was tempered by their little error.
However, I’m sure it had the intended reaction.
The Left cann’t do that with K of C, at least not until the Left is the Government. Kof C would then become truly a secret society.

Crazy Mazie. Wants all states to accept illegal aliens...all except Hawaii that is.
Shut up and step up: Sen. Hironos blunt message to men.
Hirono made some truly remarkable statements last week. Not only do women like Dr. Ford, who bravely comes forward, need to be heard, but they need to be believed, she insisted. She added, I just want to say to the men in this country: Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.

These are the kind of people elected to represent us? Where do these people come from?
It’s right there.
So opposing “gay marriage” is extreme?
Why so defensive? I was simply trying to make it a bit easier for ALL to read the letter. No disparaging of your post implied or intended.
A statement supported by the international record which, in fact, shows numerous successful attempts.
For an example closer to home, see "convenience abortion" = 41 million deaths (per recent FR headline)>
“...We wish to formally invite you all to join us for any social or charitable event. In fact, this February we are doing the Polar Plunge to raise funds for DC Special Olympics. You and anyone you know are more than welcome to join us either jumping in the cold water or sponsoring our team...”

I love a classy insult. They just told them to go jump in the lake. *smile*
Exceptionally classy way to tell them to go jump in a lake. :) :) :)
See my note above. :)
