Trump urged to nationalize ‘E-Verify’ after 700 percent surge in arrests of illegal workers

President Trump is being encouraged to sign an executive order on E-Verify after immigration police said that arrests of illegal immigrant workers and employers surged 700 percent.

Led by advocates of tighter immigration laws, Trump is getting advice to nationalize the E-Verify system that the federal government uses to make sure that contractors are hiring employees that are legally allowed to work in the United States.

“There are many changes that could be made to the immigration laws that would enable the United States to gain control over its illegal population,” said Andrew R. Arthur, a former immigration judge.

“Of all of the proposals, however, E-Verify would be the most effective at curbing illegal entries and limiting nonimmigrant overstays. And the president could likely make it mandatory through executive action,” added Arthur, now a legal expert with the Center for Immigration Studies.

The push for the simple employment verification system, currently a voluntary opt-in for nongovernment contractors, comes after Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed stunning new statistics of workplace enforcement investigations.

This is even better than a wall, assuming Commie judges don't stall it.

If they can't work or get gov't freebies, they'll go home.

Way too many REPUBLICANS oppose E-Verify as it cuts off their Illegal labor pipeline.

Most of the efforts to slow illegal immigration have been supply side solutions. Time to use some demand side solutions. Make E-verify mandatory for all private and public employment.

As of August 2007 E-verify is required by federal contractors. States such as Alabama and Arizona require E-verify for employers. California made it against the law for municipalities to require E-verify. Do it Trump. Screw Congress.

California doesn’t require employers to do anything with E-verify.

I know people working labor enforcement, and they don’t have any requirement to discuss or educate employers about E-verify.

Not even informational literature.

All of the state agencies pretend E-verify doesn’t exist.

When US DOL talks E-verify, CA government workers are told to ignore everything related to E-verify.

It’s criminal.

DOJ could prosecute thousands of California employers tomorrow, if state turned over all employers who were reporting worker wages who had bogus SSN’s.

There are tens of thousands of California employers, reporting wages for workers who have known bogus SSN’s.

California knows the SSN’s are bogus, they have to be flagged in the unemployment insurance system, to prevent bogus unemployment insurance claims.

But they NEVER, turn that info over to USDOL, or Social Security Administration.

California doesn’t give a damn.

They do nothing.

I’m sure the voter registration process is 1000x more corrupt!

So criminal.

Not true. Many states give them welfare as well. They are collecting welfare in several states and working cash jobs.

Except for those in sanctuary cities
and states.
When the federal government reduces funds without lowering the states’ responsibilities, it creates an unfunded mandate. For example, the 1998 reduction in food stamp administration costs added $5 million to state budgets.

Bothers me too, but that is why we have laws that forbid improper use, never mind that is never a problem to lawbreakers. I know of many working here illegally, using multiple social security numbers. The SS administration does not give a damn, as long as they get their money.
I was told by a person in charge why they don’t use e-verify: “we just look the other way.”

Mandatory, nationwide E-Verify should have been one of the first acts of the last Congress, and signed immediately into law by Trump. It’s not going to happen now with a Democratic House - the GOP squandered its control of Congress in the last two years. Guys like Paul Ryan are a disgrace.

” I have to certify that I am a USA resident able to work in the USA.”

I just switched to a new contracting service and had to send them documentation that I am actually an American but when I walked down the hallway in one of our buildings I came upon the lunch crowd from Chihuahua that was hired by another contractor for remodeling. How do they get away with it?

Bingo! Who knows how many are using our SSN. If I’m in Pittsburgh but my SSN shows up in San Diego it should be flagged.

Deport them once along with a scarlet letter on their foreheads. If they cross again, put their heads on those spiked border wall posts.

I am pretty certain that E-Verify has been around for many years-—open & usable by the American employers.

It was not put in place JUST TO CHECK on Federal employees.

Someone is twisting this completely.

The I-9 paper form has been in existence for a VERY LONG TIME. I have done payrolls for over 40 years, I had to have prospective employees fill out that form & prove with proper ID their identity.

I literally could NOT hire MY MOTHER if she couldn’t complete an I-9 correctly & provide correct ID.

The facts stated here by this author are lacking truth.

E-Verify is’t new. It has been around for a long time.

Employers are just bypassing it.

Some years ago, the IRS & the Social Security Administration ADMITTED that there were over 1.1 MILLION SS numbers being used by persons OTHER than the correct owner of that number.

Social Security & IRS REFUSED to notify the true holders of those numbers.

Trump needs to get that roadblock opened up.

And a good number of those 1.1 million SSNs are being used simultaneously by many different ILLEGAL ALIENS (scores or even hundreds).

Depends upon where the business is and the type of business whether e-verify is required.

A “before you get a job black-list.” Don’t assume it will just be used to screen illegals in ten years.
