This is the third federal government shutdown this year. And this one comes at a particularly hard time — during the holidays. How are you and your family faring? Is there a specific consequence you're facing this time compared with others?

Yes. I work for the federal government. Every payday they take 1/4 of my check - Federal Income Tax, SocialSecurity, 0bamaKare, etc. And that’s before CA property tax, gas tax, sales tax, sewer tax, etc. So, I guess I work for them too.
“Gee, I had to spend some extra time off! My check will be deposited directly into my bank account on Saturday December 29 so I can pay my normal bills for the next two weeks!”
I heard that the next payday is Dec 28 and that will not be effected. This no one should have a missing paycheck until Jan 11.

When the Republicans controlled the House, the Senate and the Presidency but continued funding both for Public Broadcasting and Planned Parenthood, you knew that they were not serious people. Also a serious person would use this government shutdown to fire every discretionary employee hired throughout the Federal Government from 2009-2016. If Trump actually started firing the Obama appointees, all Democrats, he would get his wall very quickly.
They always get paid for the time shutdown. I was a contractor and during a shutdown I had to spend vacation time and had to give up 2 holidays for the next year. When it was all over the feds got paid for the time they DID’T work.

It would be terrible if some government employees eventually quit and get real jobs where they can never be laid off or not get paid
Spectrum Bay News 9 Tampa Bay posted something similar on Facebook.
All USCG members and retirees will receive no pay after December 28. Pay will be caught up when a new budget or continuing resolution is passed.
Remember, to be considered for our story, you MUST HATE TRUMP!!
They will get back pay even if they did not work. What a racket paid by us.
