Russia has told Turkey to let the Syrian government take back areas vacated by US troops with Ankara preparing to clear Kurdish fighters from a town in the war-torn country.
The Kremlin's Foreign Ministry said it expects the territory to be handed to Assad's forces after US president Donald Trump announced a pullout from the country last week - a move that surprised allies and sparked the resignation of two of his top aides.
Turkey has said it is working with Washington to coordinate the withdrawal of US forces but remains 'determined' to clear US-allied Kurdish fighters from Manbij in northern Syria. Pictures have emerged today showing Turkish armoured military vehicles and troop carriers being dispatched to the border with Syria.
However, Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad's troops and Russian forces have also started deploying to the front lines around the town.

Not exactly. Putin is in charge. It’s like managing a team of wild horses, but they do have to do what he says. He is a genius at getting what he wants, and could be considered a good leader of his country, since he is doing everything he can to provide for them.
Unfortunately for him and for Russia, he skipped the Prophets when he studied the Bible.
I have many Kurds as friends on my Facebook Page and they are angry that we left. I believe Assad and Russia will crush the ISIS and FSA, but then he will move on the Kurds. That is my worry. Turkey has been encroaching on Syrian land to kill the Kurds I am glad Assad and Russia are giving him grief.
“What did Assad do that irritated BHO/HRC/KERRY?”
You forgot to mention McCain.
And Syria refused to let Saudi Arabia and Qatar build a gas pipeline to Europe.
The pipeline was intended to degrade Russia’s economic clout in Europe because Russia is currently the #1 supplier of natural gas to Europe.
Syria, being a treaty ally of Russia, refused permission to build a pipeline that was intended to harm Russian interests.
Then Obama and that treasonous slimebag McCain (may he burn in hell) created ISIS, armed ISIS, and then started a civil war in Syria with the intent to overthrow Assad and then install a pipeline-friendly regime.
Instead they got ISIS which embraced Islamic fundamentalism and which was far worse than Assad ever was.
Then Obama and that treasonous slimebag McCain (may he burn in hell) did their best to provoke a war with Russia by threatening the Russian naval base in Syria and by repeatedly attacking Russian military units in Syria.
All for a damned gas pipeline whose ultimate intent wasn’t just the degradation of Russian influence in Europe but the facilitation of the power of the European Union as a federal government.
Now with the EU crumbling there’s not so much need for a pipeline that would reinforce the power of the EU.
I was referring to Putin taking over in the last.
Wow, lots of questions, I’ll try to answer them:
“What did Assad do that irritated BHO/HRC/KERRY?” He protected Christians to the point of not allowing a free vote, which would have resulted in the Christians being driven out and/or mass-killed. Just as Mubarak did in Egypt.
“Was Assad exercising too much control in Syria?” It’s his country, and he didn’t want it dismembered. The terrorists were armed by us and were not about to go down without a fight.
“What was the reasoning for the BHO/HRC/KERRY induced Arab Spring?” There were a bunch of dictators there that were not in the mood to lick the boots of Leftist American leaders telling them that they needed to allow a popular vote. That’s the only thing that I can come up with.
“What drove GHWB & GWB to invade Iraq?”
Obviously Kuwait invasion for 41, but also Iraq nukes and their Supergun. For 43, it was Saddam thumbing his nose at us requiring the inspection agreements he signed in 1991, to end that war.
“Was Kuwait guilty of horizontal drilling into Iraqi oil fields?” Probably.
“Did Gaddafi exercise too much control in Libya?” Gaddafi was keeping the radical Muslims in check...the Obama Administration, for whatever reason, simply did not like that.
“Did not Saddam Hussain keep Iran in check?”
Pretty much.
“Was Afghanistan sheltering terrorists or were the terrorists exercusing too much control in Afghanistan?” Both. The government there didn’t mind the terrorists, as they helped in maintaining power, but the terrorists also OWNED the land where they operated (and still do, and that extends well into Pakistan).
“Was all this invention aimed at collapsing the Israeli government?” If you mean driving Bibi from power, no if anything, this strengthened him (having an elevated external threat). If you mean having Israel destroyed by its neighbors, that’s what the Iran deal was for.
“With all our own oil reserves why should we intervene at all?” Good question at this point, but 10 years ago it wasn’t clear which way we were going. And then there is always the American Left, ready at a moment’s notice to turn the clock WAY BACK on domestic drilling.
“Did we invent colonialism on the Continent of Africa.” Not sure who ‘we’ is, but obviously Europe was there first. Colonialism will always take place when there is a huge mismatch in development between societies and the backwards society has something to offer, be it treasure or slaves.
“Are we perpetually at war for the sake of weapons and tactical development?” No, I never bought that argument. We’re at war these days because a bunch of IDIOTS, from both sides of the aisle, cannot seem to get it through their THICK HEADS that Tribal societies cannot be overnight-converted to Jeffersonian Republics by dropping a few bombs and sending in a few troops with a piece of paper for them (i.e., a Constitution).
“Why isnt there a cabinet level historian?”
Not sure it would add anything as historians have the same types of political agendas as everyone else.
I guess I suspect that it is all being negotiated beyond our vision and the three countries—along with Yemen and Sudan—will cooperate in the war. Russia will not have to fight them for control of the military effort.
The other side will be Israel, with possible help from Saudi but not really from us. We are not mentioned except as possibly reinforcement in spirit from afar. (Scripture)
Saudi already volunteered to help the Kurds as we exit the scene, but of course Putin didn’t want that. It would just provide an ally for Saudi.
I would not be opposed to the Russian Air Force taking out the Turk armor as it advances into Syria.
It is in the best interests of the US for Assad to have complete control over the whole of Syria.
Who will effect these losses?
Syria and Russia will protect the Kurds.
The Kurds are an ethnic group spread across multiple sovereign countries. They have no legitimate government that is recognized by anyone. Calling them “allies” of the U.S. is preposterous.
Probably won't be the Easter Bunny.
Yes, I know the cries of "what about escalation?", from the crowd who'd rather let Russia and China take over the world, than remind them of consequences early.
The US will not fire on Russian assets in our lifetimes.
Unless they fire on us first.
Havent the Turks allowed alQaeda aligned islamist thugs to move into properties cleared of Kurds?
Kurds best bet is aligning with Assad as Syrian citizens of Kurdish ethnicity
Russia can say and do things to Erdogan our State Dept would not...
No courage to prevent takeover.
Much acceptance of proving America no longer values anything worth fighting for.
"oh...it won't be so bad with Russia and China having their way with the world...."
Nonsense.
No President in US history has allowed US forces to fire on Russian forces.
Ever.
Were they all cowards in your world?
I know you're happy with letting Vlad do as he pleases.
I get it.
You’re smarter than all of them.
I only contend that the majority will join you in your non-solution.
Houses of Qatar and Saud. They say jump, and the deep state says how high. We were being governed by a bunch of whores who ran up a debt of 22 trillion.
