WINDSOR, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) The oldest working barber in the world is making sure his clients look and feel their best this holiday season.
He works right here in New York, in the small upstate town of Windsor, the towns oldest resident is still at work.
How old am I? 107, said Anthony Mancinelli.
Hes in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest barber in the world.
So how does it feel? I dont know, I am just happy I am still a barber, Mancinelli said.
He still works full time, putting in 40 hours a week.
His advice for living so long? Well I advise a lot of people not to quit working. Keep busy. Some retire too soon and they get old fast, Mancinelli said.
Mancinelli started cutting hair at age 11, 96 years ago. I wanted to help out in the family, he explained.
He went on to have a family of his own, and was married for 69 years. I miss her. I go to the cemetery every day before I go to work, he said.
His son Bob is 85. He is in better shape than I am. He is still going. Still working five days a week, Bob said. I retired when I was 81.
Mancinelli has no plans to slow down, saying hell keep going to keep the younger generation looking sharp.
Hell turn 108 in March. He lives on his own and drives himself to work every day.
I had a barber back in the 50's who was pretty old, and his boxer dog was 17 years old the last time I saw him at the shop.
Three of my barber’s have died. The fourth is not far from the grave

...
Did your hair have something to do with it?
Someone noted about the picture of him working that he’s not wearing glasses.
There are barbers and there are hair stylists. I’d rather be a barber because they never dye.

Must be that gloomy demeanor of yours?
(just kidding)

But he earned his fee stuff years ago by paying into the system. I guess he didnt want to become someones political pawn and be chained to federal spending.
My goal too, is to work my entire life.. to serve others instead of eating of their table. To be free.
Well thats two of us.
My barber is 80. He has Rush on the radio in his shop and we frequently have prayer groups. The magazines are about guns, cars, planes and hunting. Customers are all over 55. He does a great job too.
Love it...I miss going to my barber. A Man’s Place if there ever was one...:)
I had an old barber when I lived up in Boston. He was pushing 90 years old and was cutting hair since he got out of the war. A very happy man who was always in a great mood. I don't think he ever took a day off as he was always there when I needed a haircut. He was always playing Frank Sinatra records too. He never got tired of hearing Frank Sinatra.
Don’t ask for a shave may be your last one but more power to the guy.
