How Banks Unwittingly Finance Mass Shootings

A New York Times examination of mass shootings since the Virginia Tech attack in 2007 reveals how credit cards have become a crucial part of the planning of these massacres. There have been 13 shootings that killed 10 or more people in the last decade, and in at least eight of them, the killers financed their attacks using credit cards. Some used credit to acquire firearms they could not otherwise have afforded.

Those eight shootings killed 217 people. The investigations undertaken in their aftermath uncovered a rich trove of information about the killers’ spending. There were plenty of red flags, if only someone were able to look for them, law enforcement experts say.

How many of them ate breakfast in the last month?

Did they watch late night lame-edians?

My analysis has shown that big banks are behind most drunk driving assaults and murders. They profit off of it by making money available to purchase the vehicles and the alcohol. Often times big banks are part of the entire process. Owning the bar, lending money for roads, credit for purchase, vehicles, even the gas purchased and the gas stations themselves. I swear it’s like the are planning the entire thing. Big banks are culpable of about 95 percent of the accident. 5 percent is the driver.

Shaking head in disbelief. Don’t get me started on aviation disasters.

Why can’t these mass murderers be required to save up for the gear they need for their atrocities like the people in my generation were required to do? Why, it used to be that no decent, self-respecting mass murderer would even dream of committing an atrocity on credit! No sir-ee. What’s happened to the moral fiber in this country?

I see this article as a call to track purchases at all gun/ammo dealers.

Have banks attach a tag/identifier to every credit reader at every licensed dealer. With this info ATF has name/address of every gun buyer.

You say, ATF already has this info from background checks? I say they're supposed to destroy this info, and if they don't, it's inadmissible as evidence against the buyer. This is credit info, not gun info, they can keep it forever and use it however they like.

What would be the point in alerting the authorities when almost ALL of the mass shooters mentioned were already known to local authorities and the FBI.

And yet, 95% of gun crimes are committed by people who got their firearm from the trunk of a car by using stolen or drug money

It’s time for us (amercian constitutionalists/nationalists) to break off and form our own financial institutions that are for made for servicing us, directed by us and protected by us.

In the interest of safety and transparency, it shall be Strictly Prohibited to use a credit card to make any contribution of any kind to a political campaign.

Well I guess following this article, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (of currency) also facilitates gun violence. This article is incredibly stupid and pointless, even for the “journalists” of the NYT.

Obama’s Operation Choke point won’t die until there is a wholesale purge of government employees. The spoils system was there for a reason. If the shutdown included the whole government then the executive branch could reopen only the parts required by the constitution. What a Christmas present that would be for freedom.

Stephen Paddock had two dozen guns inside the Mandalay Bay Resort when he rained fire on a music festival below. Police found four credit cards.

The NYT gives us first two examples of shooters who used credit cards to buy guns and ammo.

For the third, the NTY doesn't tell use credit cards were used for gun and ammo purchases. Only that the police found four credit cards.

The NYT is playing fast and loose with their constructed narrative.
