Give To Hillsdale College. All the rest are scams.
You can find out everything about them here.

Other ORG’s you may want to check out:
Wounded Warrior Project (FL) 86.02
Operation Homefront (TX) 95.25
Army Emergency Relief (VA) 93.98
USO of Missouri (MO) 96.83
Coast Guard Foundation (CT) 87.42
A history of corruption. They say they have new, honest leadership. They may even be telling the truth. Over a quarter of the money you give goes to fundraising expenses or ‘overhead’ (payroll and other expenses). Overhead runs about $13 million a year.
It does get 3 out of 4 stars from Charity Navigator.
Thank you for being charitable to your fellow man. Merry Christmas. God bless! Im sure whatever your lead to donate to will be a blessing.
I give to St Judes when I can. I also give to others as I feel the calling.
Thanks for that. I will be able to find the information now by looking at my posting history. He does, based on what I have read, a great job.
The head of the salvation army makes 13,000 a year
I’d recommend Gary Sinise Foundation
....
Dittos also for Goodwill! Total scam, once a better organization, now fraudulent scam artists!
Yes, the Salvation Army has the best record.
We have a married couple that we know in Missouri that spend about 20 weekends a year working for Missouri USO. It is great to hear that they have a Charity Navigator Rating of 96.83. Gary Sinise and Fisher House are both at 100.
You and I must have done the same research. United Way CEO makes over a $million.
Not to be trusted. Put in Clinton Foundation and see what you get.
Check out DAV (Disabled American Veterans)
I can’t be called a wounded warrior because I served prior to the times you must be serving to receive WWP assistance. The WWP mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound, co-incident to your military service on or after September 11, 2001. And for that reason I do not donate to them.
This nation has a whole lot of servicemen and women that stood tall that are still alive and need help from Korea, Vietnam, and many other instances that are not receiving any help from WWP. We are all wounded warriors, not just those since 9/11. I give to other groups, as much as I can, that cover everyone in need.

Salvation Army was one of my favorites until they joined the Red Cross in pulling out of a Mar-a-Lego event because they didn’t like what Trump had said about the Charlottesville riot. After that, I’ve considered them as just another politically inspired do-gooder bunch.
The Salvation Army gets my one major donation per year. During WWII they would meet the returning boats filled with military in the UK and hand out tea, doughnuts, blankets. The Red Cross handed out tea and doughnuts, too, but charged a sixpence. Got this from two Umcles who served in that war. Not too many soldiers returning from the front had pockets of loose change so the Salvation Army was appreciated.
Unfortunately, “charities” too often have the CEO flying around in private jets and high expenses going to salaries.
Army Emergency Relief (other services have similar organizations) is probably better than most. The important thing is to check any outfit very carefully. Preying on decent people’s generosity is as old as the hills. They oughtta string people up who abuse this trust from the nearest lamppost, but in these “civilized” times we live in...
Even better, donate directly. Cut out the middleman altogether. It is the nature of organizations to become bloated and wasteful. For example, paying off layaways at the AAFES, something like that. Or a families electricity bill, or their car, etc.
Of course paying somebody else’s bill is probably illegal today, and would require a retinal scan and permission.
One time when I was PCSing to a new duty station overseas, somebody (or the airline) upgraded my ticket to First Class. That was pretty cool, as I’m 6’2” and made for a nice experience. Better than the time I was placed next to a Samoan guy who by all rights should have bought two seats.
