The protests on Saturday were calm and respectable but as the day progressed things began to disintegrate as police officers began using force against the Yellow Vest protesters near the Montmartre district.
Protesters gathered near Madeleine Church, as well as near the Louvre Museum and Sacre-Coeur Basilica and later in the evening tried blocking traffic on the Champs Elysées. Riot police surrounded them in an attempt to disrupt the demonstrators.
Today’s demonstration yielded more than 100 being detained, according to the Paris Police Prefecture.
There were an estimated 23,800 protesters throughout the country, not bad for the Saturday before Christmas, with at least 2,000 of those in Paris.
BFMTV reported that there were some 300 demonstrators in front of the city hall in Marseille, as well as those who marched near a local police station to protest the detention of two Yellow Vests earlier in the day.
In southern France protesters gathered at the A9 highway toll of Le Boulou waving Catalan flags and signs saying “All united” in a nod to Friday’s Barcelona protests.
In all some 4,500 have been detained throughout the six weeks of protests.

Wierd isnt it. I was in west Germany in the 80s. My son will be stationed there.
I told him if i could visit.. he would have to meet me in an eastern country.
Its not likely i can do it, but the thought of going to Germany now... absolutely not happening.
