Trump: Drones are ‘lots of fun,’ but only a ‘good old fashioned wall’ works

resident Trump in a tweet on Sunday stressed his promised wall as the key to border security, saying "drones and the rest are wonderful and lots of fun."

“The only way to stop drugs, gangs, human trafficking, criminal elements and much else from coming into our Country is with a Wall or Barrier,” he said.

“Drones and all of the rest are wonderful and lots of fun, but it is only a good old fashioned Wall that works!”

The tweet came on the second day of a partial government shutdown, after Congress missed a midnight funding deadline on Friday.

Lawmakers are warning they believe roughly a quarter of the government could remain shuttered well into the week.

Congressional leadership and the Trump administration are locked in negotiations about border funding—the major snag for the spending talks.

But there are no signs the White House and congressional Democrats are close to agreeing on a number that could pass both chambers and garner the president’s signature.

A senior administration official said on Saturday the White House is standing by its demand for $5 billion in physical barriers and declined to “negotiate over the phone” when pressed on figures below the amount.

That’s the main reason the Dems don’t want a wall. Walls work. The other reason is they don’t want Trump the Swamp buster to have a victory.

Exactly! Drone etc... will allow people to cross the border before a patrol can react. Then they are in they are in the country and we spend time and money on them. A wall prevents/hinders them from entry.

... absolutely, you need both.

And you also need armed patrols which can be deployed within minutes of detecting any suspicious group on the Mexican side of the border.

And you need rules-of-engagement which allow lethal force and cross-border counter-assaults if our patrols take any incoming fire.

And you need prisoners to be held in detention camps without recourse to the American "catch-and-release" legal system. Foreign invaders do not have the same Constitutional rights as American citizens.

That is a more than just a wall. But a wall is a good start.

Exactly !

And the will to fly the drones, act on the information & man the wall. (Doesn’t always mean like a legionnaire on Hadrian’s Wall!)

... and get rid of the UN and it’s global immigration compact, aka Hijrah, which is plaguing western Europe with their allies within the EU.

Walls are less susceptible to EMP.

“Why not both?”

There will be both. The wall will greatly slow down passage into America but not stop it.

The super thing about the wall is that will stop most people before they get into America. With other measures people will get into America and then for those caught we’ll have to pay their bills until a court says they have to leave.

I always imagined a ten man team stationed at watch towers every five miles.
With overlapping shifts or deployments.

Another factor about a physical wall, rather than a complex monitoring system, is that once the wall is built, it stays there. Electronic measures will have to be continually supported and financed, until they aren’t.

Proposal for the President:

Thank the Democrats for identifying non-essential programs by refusing to fund them. Pres. Trump should promise that he will veto any subsequent bill that does not slash the budgets of these wasteful programs!

The fight should not be over when these programs get funded, but whether they ever get funded at all. The President can announce his hit list over twitter.

1. Drones have a limited battery life.
2. It would require a huge staff just to maintain the drones and to charge and constantly replace their batteries.
3. It would take a large 24 hour staff to constantly fly and watch the drone videos.
4. We don’t have the manpower to respond in time to drone videos.

A wall eliminates the need for all of the above toys and staffing.

The wall is nothing more than what is termed in military parlance "an obstacle."

It's a longstanding military principle that no obstacle is effective unless it's covered by fire.

So bring on the drones. Darpa is developing a number of precision munitions that are more suitably sized for use against human-sized soft targets than an AGM-114 Hellfire (a 20-lb HE warhead is just a little overkill [pardon the pun]), so The Wall seems to me an ideal opportunity for low-overhead R&D in a target-rich environment.

“those caught we’ll have to pay their bills until a court says they have to leave.”

No, we don’t have to pay their bills. If
we had an AG worth his salt, invaders
can be sent back to Mexico awaiting their
asylum claim hearing. Ref;Section 235 (b)(2)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Drones are insufficient - too easy for Closet-Commies like Obama to simply defund/prevent maintenance and upkeep on them to nullify them like he did so much of the US Military.

A Wall takes alot longer to decline and has a chance to remain effective til the bad/leftist president’s regime is overturned when someone responsible gets elected.
