Neocons, some defense officials, and even Democrats normally opposed to overseas military entanglements all heavily criticized POTUS Donald Trumps decision to pull all American troops out of Syria, characterizing it alternately as rash, unhinged, or irresponsible.
But as is usually the case involving this president, the first impression we were given by the mainstream media regarding his decision was incomplete and not based on a complete understanding of the action.
As it turns out, one could even say that POTUS acted on the indirect advice of his national security adviser, John Bolton, simply because he was unable to answer one question regarding continued U.S. military presence in the war-torn shell of a country: Why.

Erdogan (SPIT!) is covertly isis (SPIT!).
Bad move, POTUS.
Absolutely! When all these naysayers have a son AND grandson in harm’s way, get back to me. The military is exhausted. It will take years to get all the equipment back up to snuff. Guard the border. Any problems that pop up, go Sherman on them and get out.
“America needs to fight war. Destroy them and their host nation beyond all recognition.”
We don’t do that anymore, for fear of criticism.
Turkey did release the pastor without getting that person in PA who Turkey said revolted against Ergodan. Turkey is a NATO ally.
Exactly. I see none of boktons kids are at the tip of the spear
I’m still dealing with “how many angels can fit on the point of a needle.”
We’re in Japan to deter aggression by the Chinese, and in Germany to deter aggression by the Germans.
How many farts in a cow’s lifetime???
Brett H. McGurk (born April 20, 1973) is an American diplomat who was appointed by President Barack Obama on 23 October 2015 as Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL. He replaced General John R. Allen to whom he had been a deputy since 16 September 2014. He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran, at the U.S. Department of State, and from October 2014 through January 2016 led 14 months of secret negotiations with Iran that led to a prisoner swap and release of four Americans from Evin Prison in Tehran, including the Washington Post journalist, Jason Rezaian. This assignment, among others, reinforced McGurk's "reputation as a doer", according to the NY Times.
He earlier served under President George W. Bush as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Iraq and Afghanistan, and under President Obama as Special Advisor to the U.S. National Security Council and Senior Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq. Mr. McGurk served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist on the U.S. Supreme Court during the Court's 2001 October Term. On January 19, 2017, President-Elect Donald Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer announced that the incoming administration would retain McGurk in his role leading the counter-ISIS campaign. In December 22, 2018, McGurk announced his resignsation from his post amidst President Trump's decision to withdraw troops from Syria.
On 26 March 2012, McGurk was nominated to become the next United States Ambassador to Iraq, succeeding James F. Jeffrey. However, McGurk's confirmation hearings soon became embroiled in controversy after a series of his emails were leaked to the press and published on Cryptome. Speculation remains as to who was responsible for the leak. The illicit emails were exchanged with Gina Chon, then a reporter for The Wall Street Journal. Critics claim that the extramarital affair cast doubt on his ability to lead and manage the embassy, while supporters argue that it was at most a momentary lapse in judgement and that McGurk and Chon were a married couple when the series of emails from five years earlier leaked.
Chon was later accused of sharing articles with McGurk before publication, and was forced to resign from the newspaper. McGurk and Chon married in 2012, after McGurk's amicable divorce from his previous wife, Caroline Wong
I don’t think Bolton holds back his opinion. We sure didn’t
protect those Christians in Syria, did we?
Perhaps it would be best to kick Turkey out of NATO.
Wipe your spittle.
The Saudi’s have already committed extra troups to support the kurds.
Neocons seem to want to stick around and run things too much.

Open ended missions cost too much in blood and treasure. If you don’t know how you’re going to get out, you shouldn’t be there.
Its also worth looking at who is benefitting from these adventures. People pushing for extended commitments usually have a self-interested reason for doing so.
troops too. LOL
Lyndon Johnson came to our campus electioneering and said he would not send our boys to fight for a country (Vietnam) that wouldn’t defend themselves. That pretty much got him elected and then he did just the opposite. The same question could be asked today about Syria and Afghanistan.
By the way. After he broke that promise I haven’t voted for a Democrat since then.
If John Bolton can't come up with a plausible reason for a particular military intervention, it's time to end it.
More money for a serious WALL & people to still patrol after the WALL is built.
I will never get to see the Great Wall of China——
But I want to live long enough to see The WALL on the southern USA border.
One of the reasons I LEFT So Calif after 29 years there was because of the influx of illegals. I no longer felt safe in my own home.
