New Jersey Unless youve been under a rock lately, then youve likely seen the unprecedented push by all levels of government to separate law abiding Americans from their guns. No, this is not some conspiracy theory. The president himself ushered in a new level of gun control doing what his liberal predecessor even refused to do by banning bump stocks. However, as states across the country seek to limit the ability of innocent people to defend themselves, people are disobeying.
In May, Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law that reduced the maximum capacity of ammunition magazines from 15 rounds to 10. Citizens immediately sued the government, citing the unconstitutional nature of the ban, but they failed.
New Jerseys law reasonably fits the States interest in public safety and does not unconstitutionally burden the Second Amendments right to self-defense in the home, the court wrote in their decision. The law also does not violate the Fifth Amendments Takings Clause because it does not require gun owners to surrender their magazines but instead allows them to retain modified magazines or register firearms that have magazines that cannot be modified.
AG Gurbir Grewal applauded the ruling on Twitter stating: This just in: for months, individuals have been challenging NJs limits on large capacity magazinesa sensible law to address mass shootings. Today, the court of appeals upheld the law. Big win for public safety and law enforcement safety!
This month, citizens were given a December 11 deadline on their new ban on standard capacity magazines. The law effectively turned one million law abiding gun owners into criminals, literally over night if they failed to turn in the magazines.
Somehow, New Jersey lawmakers thought insane individuals who want to carry out mass shootings would be lining up to turn in their 15-round magazines as anyone caught with one of these banned magazines is now committing a fourth-degree felony. However, even the law abiding citizens are choosing to disobeyand thats a good thing.
According to Ammoland.com, who says they spoke with multiple police departments throughout the state, no one has turned in their magazines.
Two sources from within the State Police, who spoke to AmmoLand on condition of anonymity, told AmmoLand News that they both do not know of any magazines turned over to their agency and doubted that any were turned in. They also stated that the State Police also engaged the AGs office for guidance on how to respond to inquiries such as ours. They were unaware if the Attorney General has returned to their request for guidance.
All the local police departments that AmmoLand contacted stated that they have not had any magazines turned into them.
AmmoLand has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with The New Jersey State Police to get an official count of the number of magazines turned in by New Jersey citizens. We will update the story if our FOIA request is fulfilled.
This act of disobedience is the only way that law-abiding citizens can effectively and peacefully fight back against the gun grabbers. And so far, it has been effective.
As TFTP has reported, weve seen similar acts of disobedience from other states like Illinois. In Effingham County, IL, the town board voted in April to order its employees not to enforce any laws that would unconstitutionally restrict the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Effingham County States Attorney Bryan Kibler said the measure is meant to act as a warning shot to tell the state legislature that the county does not want unnecessary gun control measures, or for the sale of firearms to be jeopardized. The resolution states:
The Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms is guaranteed as an Individual Right under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and under the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and; the Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms for defense of Life, Liberty, and Property is regarded as an Inalienable Right by the People of Effingham County, Illinois, and the People of Effingham County, Illinois, derive economic benefit from all safe forms of firearms recreation, hunting, and shooting conducted within Effingham County using all types of firearms allowable under the United States Constitution.
Board member David Campbell told Fox News that the county decided its time for someone to take a hard stand. Indeed, as weve noted time and again, rights are preserved and gained when good people make a stand and refuse to obey bad laws.
MOLON LABE! = Come and take them (if you can, if you dare)!
They certainly can try; but do they dare?
Nobody complied with Anrew Cuomo’s SAFE Act either.
There are millions of AR and AK weapons in NY that are not registered, and will not be registered, nor have they been moved or sold “out of state”.
The only threat to them is the legal gun owners, the thugs and gangbangers are far from their gated communities and pose no threat. By disarming us we pose no threat to their criminal antics and control and the armed thugs and ganbangers will take care of us so they don’t have to
As Chuck would say...
Mass Civil Disobedience has historically worked before.
Amen and Amen
How many millions refuse to comply with immigration laws?
“How many millions refuse to comply with immigration laws?”
Good point. Only the Trump administration is legally bound to obey what Federal judges decree the immigration law is.
It is high time that the Trump administration do what the sanctuary people do — that is, do what it chooses to do.
We have guns to fight tyranny. This is unconstitutional. The govt is not our God.
Trump shouldn’t have caved on bump stocks.
How many and what type of firearms are you allowed to own in China?
“Mass Civil Disobedience has historically worked before.”
The yellow vest people are certainly getting attention as unarmed citizens. I just wonder what would happen if the people peaceably demonstrated with legal firearms without any intent to shoot anyone? If demonstrator had something as simple as a cased bolt action deer rifle, and kept it in its case, how would the lefties react?
Ct required that the magazines be registered. People lined up around the block. I moved to SC instead.
Some NJ citizens will no doubt bury their magazines in the backyard to avoid confiscation and arrest. Many more will conclude that it’s time to leave, as if they didn’t have ample reasons before the ban.
Anyone here read “Unintended Consequences” by John Ross?
Deals with this subject at length and is a very good read. Used copies sell for hundreds of dollars but it can be downloaded.

Y'gonn'a prosecute and lock up a state ???
That moment would have made more of an impact had Chuck been lifting up an AR or an AK variant rather than some museum piece
There is a law against murder. Always has been.
There are still murders being committed.
Go figure. I mean, there is a LAW against it!!!
(Do I really have to put the sarc/ tag here?)
I have not *ever* purchased a firearm in the state of New Jersey that came with more than a 10 round magazine in the box with the firearm. Manufacturers package firearms with different features and accessories depending on state laws. New Jersey's 15 round limit was unique among the states for years so many firearms were sold with 10 round magazines instead of, say, 17 round magazines sold in free states. That's not to say that thousands of pistols weren't sold here with 11-15 round magazines but I have never purchased one and I don't think it adds up to a million owners. And why turn it in when you can sell it out of state, store it out of state or in the case of a magazine that is of little value, just take the spring and follower out, stomp on it and throw it in the trash?
So I kinda doubt it.
New Jersey is a small state. Almost everyone has a friend across the river in the Free State of Pennsylvania to hold onto magazines as this winds its way through the courts. California is in the lead through the courts now, New Jersey is following at the tail-end.
